A problem with the client

  • A problem with the client

Could anyome help me with my LastFM client?
After formatting my HDD reinstalling the OS, I downloaded the latest version of the client. When I tried to run it, it said: "System library user32.dll has been moved in memory...." and things of the sort.
Has anyone encountered this problem and what should I do with it?
    Thanks.

    Try re-starting the computer.

so you tried the patch in that microsoft kb article?

  • Yeah, posting here on last.fm for a Microsoft OS issue is unlikely to illicit a Microsoft response. Although its a tribute to the users of the site it's great that you got a solution anyway.

I also typed in "user32.dll" to www.google.com (US english) and came up with many solution links. Try some of those.

All comments reflect the views of the poster and not of last.fm or it's management.

    Thanks, I'll try
It just came to my mind that some ppl might've had a similar problem. 'Cos all other soft works perfectly after the re-install.

Ok... let's look more closely at the error message. Does it look exactly like this:

The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\Hhctrl.ocx occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

Does it refer to hhctrl.ocx or some other file?

  • 2 dougma:
yes, exactly... except that it is in Russian.
And says "The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\SHELL32.dll occupied an address range"

I'd guess that something installed on your pc (probably not last.fm) has replaced shell32.dll with a broken version... try uninstalling or upgrading your other software... especially look at other software which might have modified your UI/Shell/Explorer.

    good luck

  • I've solved the problem.
Thanks to everyone who took interest. Esp. to dougma.

Maybe it'll help someone if I say that such a problem occurs sometimes after installing some visual packs (like BricoPacks, for one). If you encounter a similar problem - try uninstalling or upgrading your pack. In the worst case you'll have to replace the file modified by the pack with its backup (the backup are created automatically when the pack is being installed).
    Hope, this'll help.
