iPod Duplicates

iPod Duplicates

I have the Last.Fm Scrobbler installed on my iMac. I have version 1.5.1.29527. Whenever I connect my iPod Nano to my computer, the Last.Fm Scrobbler detects all of my played songs and submits them. When I then go to the website, I see a lot of duplicate plays for songs. For example, the site will say I listened to a track at 10:33pm 4 times. The exact same track at the exact same time, 4 times. Is this a known issue? It's rather annoying since I then have to go in and remove all of the duplicates.

I do now know if this is related, but my iPod (2nd gen Nano) has a bug that makes it show some songs multiple times. I haven't been able to duplicate the exact conditions that cause this, as it doesn't happen for all artists, but for example The Cure appears twice in the artist selection menu. As far as I can tell, both entries are identical and work just fine.

Perhaps the iPod calculates play counts to all entries and thus you get duplicates.

I was thinking it might be everytime you pause and then "unpause" it would count as a new play. I can see a few places where I didn't pause it and there are no duplicates. However, it's just a guess.
