    what do i do now?

Yeah i tried the exact same thing. If u clear the user associations for your ipod the next time u connect it it will scrobble. Ironicaly enough i just disconected my ipod from the computer before i started typeing this and just now last.fm popped up with about 50 tracks asking me if i want to scrobble them....... if i figure out what i did to get it to work i will let u know

  • I tried to get the new plugin, but it says that the plugin for itunes was installed. So I uninstalled Lastfm again and reinstalled it. Still did not work.

Just tested a few more songs and that worked for some reason. I still have about 50 it did not register, but I think it might be working now.

i tried deleting my user associations. twice. still nothing. i get the notifications saying its preparing my iPod for scrobbling, and the one saying all my songs off my iPod will be scrobbled from now on. but i dont get a confirmation list and the songs arent there.

    Liam -

I just uploaded my logs. The ipod will only scrobble if I play music on it when its connected to iTunes on the computer.

    OSX 10.5.4
    Last.fm 1.5.3.45507
    ipod 4GB 1.1.3

Please let me know what I should do! Thank you.

    Hey dude:

    080829 21:50:18 - 0xa00b4fa0 - main(102) - L3
iPod switched from manual to automatic - deleting manual db and ignoring scrobbles

means that its lost any scrobbles you've had running. but apart from that everything seems to be okay.. can you play a song on the iPod now, resync, and then reupload the twiddly log after 5 minutes or so (to let last.fm kick in the scrobble)

    My iPod is not scrobbling.

    I have Windows XP.
    5th generation 80gig video iPod version 1.1.2.
    iTunes 7.7.1.11
    Last.fm version 1.5.2.38918
    iTunes plugin version 3.0.20

I have reinstalled LastFM twice over the last 2 days. I have tried to find the files from "C:\Documents and Settings\<windows username>\Local Settings\Application Data\LastFM\Client" I get to Application Data and there is nothing in the folder.

    Please Help.

    Thanks

    Hey there :)

Thats odd the folder is empty. Can you double check that is the case? Try entering the full path into the address bar in My Computer if its there, and hopefully that'll work :)

  • Finally!

It scrobbled 19 songs for me just now, I just have to wait and let it run its course. Maybe it takes awhile because I have 120 gigs of music. Ah well.

Question for lgladdy: Does it take longer because I have more music?

Your logs show everything is working properly, actually.. But you're running a bunch of diagnostics.

The newest iTunes and last.fm client have introduced a delay for scrobbling an iPod, which (on mac at least..) is 5 minutes, or when unplugged.

Your iPod has been scrobbled automatically recently, so it does seem to be working, i guess you just need to wait a bit longer before giving up and running diagnostics?

The first time I tried doing what you said and it did the missing scrobbles thing again, and only scrobbled some of my tracks, but I've just been away for the last day and a bit and all of the 103 tracks that I listened to scrobbled perfectly, so thank you!

  • Not sure what I did, but it works now. It even found some of the scrobbles I thought I lost.

I have uploaded my logs on http://drop.io/lgladdy.

I have downloaded the last.fm update 1.5.3, but it's a .dmg file. How does it work?

    thanks.

Config : itunes 7.7, Last.FM 1.5.1.30182, ipod nano 1st gen not detected at all by last.fm (nothing on option last.fm > ipod > ipod list), scrobbling on itunes player ok.

Definately. It requests data for every song in your library as a snapshot that it can use for comparison.

The time it takes to get that snapshot depends on the size of your library, speed of your computer and platform.

I'm on a macbook pro 2.4ghz with 12,000 songs, and it takes about 8 seconds. But for some users here, it times out because it takes over the 2 minutes allowed by default.

I did that now - still it doesn't seem to work :|

    Thanks for your newest logs.

    You're still getting:

    080830 21:42:43 - IPodDetector::WindowProc(234) - L3
    Device arrived - id: USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_APPLE&PROD_IPOD&REV_1.62\<serial>

    080830 21:42:44 - IPodDetector::WindowProc(262) - L3
no ipods found with this deviceid - presumeably a non-ipod has been plugged in!

You you run iPod Diagnostics in iTunes and send me the output from that?

If that looks normal, then this could well be a last.fm bug - What iPod do you have exactly? (Model, Generation, Firmware Version (which i'm guessing is 1.62))

Edit: A bit more research says this Device ID is the standard for iPod Nanos/Classics. I'm guessing you have one of them? I'll contact max at the client team and let him know about it.

What version of windows are you running? Windows 2000 by any chance?

Edit: Do you have an instant messenger? I'd like to try and resolve this for you, but the forums are too slow to do any kind of detailed troubleshooting, really. I want to see event logs for windows (as windows is generating the error), and theres a bunch of other things we can try :)

Edit2: How advanced a user are you? If this doesn't make sense to you, the answer is no: Did you disable the Windows Management Instrumentation service?

Heya, that update is for mac users only.

Thanks for the config brief too - if only ever user would do something similar it'd make this much easier!

    Okay. Your logs.

First, your iPod is being detected fine, and its finding all your scrobbles fine. But when it tries to get information about the tracks, you're getting:

    080830 08:40:09 - 00000928 - ITunesComWrapper::logComError(590) - L2
COM error: Failed to get track
    Result code: RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED

We've been able to fix this error for everyone who has had it, but it seems there 3 different fixes.. which in theory only do the same as the first one, but still!

Okay. Close iTunes and Last.fm - then press Windows Key + R. This'll bring up the Run dialog. In there, you want to type 'iTunes /regserver' (without the quotes) - Then restart your computer and try again. Hopefully that will be enough to kick it into working :)

    Thx for your answer.

I tried what you said, but still doesn't work. I don't have a pop up with all my scrobbling from 15 to 28 aout... In Last.FM option, in the list, the ipod is repertoried as Diagnotic/UNKNOWN Oroshii.

If I uninstall/reinstall both iTunes and Last.FM, maybe it will work?

Last.FM is okay - but repair iTunes by downloading the installer from www.apple.com/itunes/download and running it, then hitting repair

    hopefully that will work :)

It works now, but to scrobble my ipod, I have to do it manually : I have to go on last.fm, diagnostic > scrobble ipod...

Automatic scrobbling seems to doesn't work anymore :p.

Im an amateur nerd :P. Ive got AIM ( joppefierens) and msn (joppe.11@hotmail.com), I turned it off last week and didn't work then, haven't checked it with the new patch so I just turned it off now ;-). Im using XP SP2 by the way

edit: I think the new patch did something, after turning off the WMI and running last.fm Diagnostics, it started showing the log file (that was empty or not there before) of the songs I played in the last week (before I formatted my laptop ;) ). After rebooting I turned on WMI again and it still worked. It seems to be working :)

So thanks alot for all your time ;-), I feel like a 9 year old on christmas morning.

edit 2: It scrobbles if I use Diagnostics, not automatically. But that doesn't matter, it works so I'm happy :). Maybe this will work for others too ?

ITunes played songs work fine only Ipod songs are not appearing.

I have uploaded my logs as requested.
