I had this problem for weeks. Simply reinstalling iTunes fixed it.

  • I don't know if it will help any of you but, if my iPod isn't scrobbling I just sync it to iTunes while no music is running, open up the plugin, go into Help, Diagnostics, and hit "reconnect", it reconnects to the server and bang, up comes my thing asking me if I want to scrobble tracks.

Yeah, what julian vamp says works. They have a tab for iPod scrobbling.

  • Thanks so much that worked :)

Ok, this is a bit "cheaty", but it works for me.

Going to "Help", then "Diagnostics" and "iPod scrobbling" then choosing "I manually manage my iPod" (and clicking the "Scrobble iPod") button, shows the classical dialog "Your iPod scrobbles are being determined" blabla. Then, immediatly in the Last.fm menu, go to "Tools", "Options", "iPod", and click "Clear user associations". After a while, the scrobbles show up correctly.

I know it's a shit doing this every time you want to scrobble, but it works...

(By the way, I use Windows -both XP and Vista-, iTunes 8.2 -with 8.1 also worked- and a 80 GB Classic iPod.)

  • I tried Julien_Vamp's suggestion and nothing happened.
Then I tried Jrmagus's suggestion and I didn't get the "Your ipod scrobbles are being determined...." instead i got this for every track due to be scrobbled, in alphabettical order:

COM error: COM couldn't get file path for [Artist Name] - [Song Title]
    Result Code: S_FALSE
    [Today's Date Current Time] ITunesComWrapper::logComError()590: L2

I also tried scrobble Ipod when "iTunes automattically manages my ipod" was seleceted and it tells me that "failed to read current itunes track. Either something went wrong or the track was not found on the disk ,despite being in the iTunes library.

Im using Windows Vista, iTunes 8.1.1.10 and a 1Gb shuffle.

    Can anybody explain/solve?
    Thanks in advance

I'm telling now how I got my ipod scrobbling again.

The First Step: Open your last.fm program. Select Tools -> Options -> iPod
Then push the "Clear User Associations" button.

The Second Step: Disconnect your ipod from the computer. Close iTunes completely.

It's easy as hell. This usually works when you have something wrong with the files that allow your computer and different kinds of programs to recognize your ipod.

I hope this helped someone although I think there are already several this kind of tutorials on the internet and on this thread... yeah and sry for the bad English.. or "Finglish" :D

  • I've tried everything listed in this post, and I still can't get my iPod Touch to scrobble. This problem started happening just a few days ago. I'm using the latest iTunes software, in combination with the 3.0 for the iPod Touch and Windows Vista.

what zodium said totally helped me, thank you ^^

  • Mad props to zodium. I also did exactly that and mine is working great.

KeepOnSinging - Make sure to close out of itunes and unplug your ipod, then open itunes and plug it back in. I did that and it worked fine.

    Um, here's what I did

Here's what I did, not saying it'll work for you but worth a shot.

    Quit Last.fm
Eject iPod from iTunes (do not unplug iPod)
    Quit iTunes
    Unplug iPod

Start iTunes (this will automatically start Last.fm)
    Plug in iPod
Should sync and scrobble as it normally does.

    Hope this helps someone!

it happened the same to me.
i did everything you're saying but my ipod still not working.

i tried that "diagnostics" thing, but it only appear "help" and i hited that. then, it reddirected me to this website http://support.apple.com/kb/304314-es
    and that shit doesn't exist..

i tried to "clear the users association" too on my last.fm but...nothing happened.

i made the diagnostics test and it said:

**** Pruebas de sincronización del iPod/iPod touch ****
No se encontró ningún iPhone o iPod.

which means "not ipod founded" or something like that.

    help me please ):
i've got the 8.2 itunes version, windows vista, 120 gb ipod.
i don't know what else to do

    should i re-install my itunes?

    (sorry, my english sucks)

This actually worked for me when all the other methods listed didn't. Thanks!

  • Itunes 9 / iPod nano 5G

My client stopped scrobbling since I updated to Itunes 9 and sychronize with the nano 5G. Other people here with the same issue? And maybe some solutions? Much appreciated!

  • i have the same problem efter itunes 9, and with a 5G nano!

  • Helppppp - windows media player :(

I'm not using itunes as I have a zune, so I am forced to use Windows Media Player..I got the lastfm scrobbler to scrobble all of my songs for agess (well since I downloaded it) and it was working fine, but one day when I opened my media player, the lastfm scrobbler did not come up, so I opened it up and started listening to a song on my media player but the lastfm thing didn't recognise my song....I've tried EVERYTHING to sort it out...I've even uninstalled and re-installed both windows media player and the lastfm scrobbler but nothing seems to work :(

    Pleasseee help, it's soo annoying!

Check the link below and read it. Do what it tells you to do and your iPod will scrobble. I recommend not to manually transfer music on your iPod.
