Winamp 5.5 Scrobbling Problem

  • Um, looks like Dr.O's plugin has some trouble with unicode. Or is it just me?

  • Didn't know that DoctorO's plugin has more options towards the top of the settings list in Winamp. Found the option to keep the scrobbler in online moment all the time, instead of only when I plug in an iPod.

  • v1.1.11p7-DrO plugin doesn't scrobble unicode indeed

Just tried playing a song with a japanese title and while Dr.O's plugin (v1.1.11p7-DrO) reported that it submitted the track, it didn't appear on last.fm. Then I played another track with only english characters and it scrobbled fine.

Maybe that's a good day to stop using last.fm... (the last.fm player is just too bloated)

  • where can i found the more stable plugins beta build 1568

  • Not having a problem uploading any tracks here aside from the unicode problem. Will it ever be fixed?

i've got a bit more testing to do on it but i believe i've now resolved the unicode issues so there will hopefully be a new version of my modified build out in a month or so (real life permitting). i've still to look into the new protocol specs to see how easy it will be to implement that as they would be better to use for the ml_ipod which ships an older version of the modified plugin.

when i'm happy with the build of the plugin, i'll put out a request for a few people to just confirm the plugin works before it is made fully public.

Woooo, you rock!! I was looking everywhere about this problem of winamp not scrobbling, but would have never guess it was the firewall !!! I'm using nod 32 and as soon I deactivated the FW, audioscrobbler finally grabbed the song. Thks a lot!!!

  • The plugin works well, in Winamp 5.55 with Lyrics Plugin installed (I think one of the posters here had an issue with it). Thanks DoctorO!

PS: I'm hoping for the updated version that supports Unicode to be ready in the near future :D

    Allright here's my problem

You name it I got it. I've done everything, I've had people walk me through everything, and winamp STILL will not scrobble. The only time it's letting me now is if I turn off WInamp and turn it back on and even then it only scrobbles the first one and declares the rest as "invalid - didn't detect track play". At this point I'm ready to put curses on last.fm and winamp because nothing seems to work. I have enable plug-in, force connection, show upgrade messages clicked. I don't know what include/exclude directories is for. MAJOR HELP NEEDED!

  • @ chbigemi

Are you using the modified plugin from page 4? (Or click here to go there directly.) Make sure Winamp is turned off (I'd suggest you do a clean install), put the file into the plugins folder (eg. C:\program files\winamp\plugins) and then activate/set up the plugin within Winamp.

  • Alrite - no fuss..

Joining alot of good people here i see - just wanted to say job well done to DocO as well. My fortunate rule of not installing updates on most stuff before browsing forums and web for mishaps paid off again. Didn't know there was a problem with scrob untill ljust now. Found the link to that v1.1.11p7-DrO, let WA 5.5 have it's way, had the DrO treat join in with the rest .. - ...since that, peace and nice runnings all over. I see the scrob already posted a lot of my music already. That being the purpose I wouldn't know of any errors otherwise. All programs here are stable and behaving themselves, so I say thanks again. Yet another respectful coinsidence in life where people like me skid around with our things, happily unavare mostly, that hordes of people like DoctorO here has to make for good headroom and put in hours and hours of free time to make all these beautiful daily details we depend upon, perfectly uneventful and so on and on and on..

Respect. Soo, all good stuff and happy days commencing yet again - Therefor I'll present a loud and clear Hail to all the Fixers out fixin something here and elsewhere making life smooth and comfy for most of the rest of us. Thanks! A good day to you and everyone else here :)

    Hey,
I have Winamp v5.531; I downloaded audioscrobbler winamp plugin v2, 0, 46, 0 [gen_wa2_scroble.dll]. It listed one song and didn't work past that.

    Can someone lend a hand?

    Thanks.

  • Can you please PLEASE update this with unicode, perhaps "now playing" support, and add it to the build.last.fm site as well as your website http://nunzioweb.com/daz/AudioScrobbler/?

It's difficult to dig through forums to find more info.

After more than 2 years, I am still using your plugin and it's really quite awesome. I have to say that if I couldn't use it, I would stop scrobbling to last.fm.

  • I've fixed problem scrobbling Winamp 5.5 + Last.fm scrobbler by alowing all local (127.0.0.1 <-> 127.0.0.1) connects in my firewall. So, that might be the issue?

    ditto. thank you Dr.O.

can't wait for the unicode update.

"...The unnamed feeling, it comes alive."
  • I'm going to test this now. Hopefully it works. I'm glad someone found a solution...this was driving me insane.

My problem is that Winamp isn't even detecting Dr. O's plug in or the official Last. fm plug in. iTunes and WMP scrobbles fine, but not WinAmp

Nevermind, a clean install of Winamp solved my problem.

  • Any news on the Unicode update? I don't wanna listen to question marks anymore :(

  • After several months without scrobbling, my current solution has been to switch to Linux (Xubuntu) where most players have integrated scrobbling support... (EDIT: Audacious is a nice player with the same look&feel as winamp.)

I still use Winamp at work because I couldn't find another decent player for Windows, but without scrobbling! I'd love to see an unicode update of Dr. O's version but it looks like he's got other fish to fry :-}...

(I don't blame him, I know programming takes time... I wish Winamp devs would integrate the feature themselves - and fix the broken shuffle play while they're at it.)
