Last.fm Client 1.3.1.1 does not scrobble

  • Last.fm Client 1.3.1.1 does not scrobble

    I come back from holydays.
    Last.fm client wants to update.
    I agreed.

Now, my tracks aren't scrobbled anymore ; my jesus2099_submissions.xml keeps logging everything.

There is no error message in the client status bar as if it would not even try to submit the data to the server. It even says the tracks are scrobbled in the blue bar !

Everything else works (tagging, recommending, playing radio, … through the client). Which let me think it is not my company firewall problem (the firewall could have changed configuration to block last.fm during my holydays).

I'll try to bring my big jesus2099_submissions.xml file home and let the same 1.3.1.1 version submit it from a regular internet access to make sure of this though…

    Notes:
    • foobar2000 0.9.4.2
    • Last.fm client update from 1.1.3.0 to 1.3.1.1

Does anyone else with the new Last.fm 1.3.1.1 face the same situation ?

I have the same problem, too

  • charater > Like me it worked before (version 1.1.3.0) ? Are you behind a firewall ?

reeceecup > Well I don't know about ipod but it seems to be something else special by the way : ipod scrobbling

I've used last.fm for 8 months, having this problem for the first time.
I'm now using the latest version, scrobbling from Windows Media Player.
For the recent 6 hours I've listened to more than 20 tracks(with Last.fm activated), but all of them do not show in my page.
And my computer's firewall is closed.

  • We're both alike, charater.

    → Anybody here has a working last.fm 1.3.1.1 ?

yes? im using last.fm 1.3.1.1 and it works fine.
but im still using the "old" winamp plugin 2.0.30.0, because the new one caused some problems (cpu on 99% and winamp.exe didnt close properly)

"I'd rather fuck who I want than kill who I'm told to!"

  • So we have :

    last.fm 1.3.1.1 + WMP = KO
    last.fm 1.3.1.1 + foobar2000 = KO
    last.fm 1.3.1.1 + winamp = OK

Strange because it's the client which does all the submission tasks… ?

    Another experience someone ? :)

Notes : I have read the Problems Scrobbling? READ THIS. and reached SECTION C and reboot, but it still doesn't work. The servers are running OK by the way.

Scrobbling works for me, even when the last.fm client is not running. I'm using foobar 0.9.4.3 + foo_audioscrobbler 1.3.6. Note that this is not the foobar plugin that came with the last.fm installer, because that gave me crashes on exit of foobar.

    last.fm 1.3.1.1 + foobar2000 = OK

Try to upgrade your foobar2000 if it isn't most recent version.

  • I'm using WMP and it works fine, and didn't mess up after upgrading. But there were some changes, I wonder if it's the plugins themselves that are causing issues.

Have you tried removing the plugins, rebooting, then using "Get Plugin" from the tools to get a new one?

Other than that I can't think of anything other than a complete removal and replacement of a fresh copy of the client.

my problem is resolved. Thank you staff. :)

  • Using:

    Last.fm client: v1.3.1.1
    - iTunes plugin v2.0.11.0
    - Winamp plugin v2.0.35.0

    Players
    - Winamp v5.35(x86)
    - iTunes v7.1.1.5

    Scrobbling works with both players.

That's not to say I'm not having other problems though. :P

  • Last.fm client should report connection errors like it used to do before

    Thank you for your helps.

In fact it's indeed my company's firewall which is blocking the last.fm submissions server, damn it !

I brought my big jesus2099_submissions.xml home and let the same client submit it successfully.

    Last.fm client 1.3.1.1 scrobbles tracks.

If there was a web submition form somewhere it would be nicer for me than to bring back home my file each night. But that's very specific to me as a request, so don't bother and read on to the next part, which is more interesting…

Last.fm client should report connection errors like it used to do before

However, it has shown me a slight change in the client behaviour. Notice the difference :

    last.fm client 1.1.3.0

When behind my company's firewall, last.fm client v1.1.3.0
     • Shows an explicit error message
« Couldn't connect to submissions server. Will cache scrobbled tracks. »
     • But can not retrieve information from last.fm's website
       • The album cover is not retrieved
       • The play count is out of date (it comes from the old client cache)

    last.fm client 1.3.1.1

When behind my company's firewall, last.fm client v1.3.1.1
     • Doesn't show any error message
       « scrobbled » (lies!)
     • But can retrieve information from last.fm's website
       • The album cover is not retrieved
       • The play count is up to date

I don't know exactly why the new client can retrieve informations the other can't (maybe it comes from a different server which is not [yet] banned by my firewall).

But I really think Last.fm client should report connection errors like it used to do before and letting us know that tracks will be cached instead of scrobbled.

  • Setting a proxy doesn't resolve the submission failure

I tried to set up a working http proxy in the last.fm client config (Connection section).

But it seems the proxy is unsed only for the retrieval of cover art and text info about the tracks playing.

It is not used for submissions / scrobbling.

I had the same problem with WMP, but I uninstalled the last.fm client and reinstalled the older version.. that solved everything.

  • You mean you finally got error messages when the client was unable to reach the scrobbling submission server ?

LA TÉLÉ FAIT GROSSIR ET NUIT À L'ÉVEIL DU CERVEAU
  • Well now there is a Help menu : Diagnostics window which displays the connection status.
