It says it's scrobbling... but it's not.

  • It says it's scrobbling... but it's not.

    Didn't see anything like this.

I scrobble my iPod, and last month it stated I submitted approximately 2,500 tracks. This month, I scrobble it and it submits 1,300. I scrobble again and submit another 800+ tracks (how is not picking up all of them?). But, my profile has not changed since November.

I am logged in correctly, all software is up to date, etc etc. Is anyone else getting fed up with Last.fm not working properly? What could the problem be and where are my scrobbled tracks disappearing to? I don't understand how I can troubleshoot this as it seems to be a problem with their website/server, not any hardware or software misconfiguration on my end.

Also, looking through these posts, I've yet to see anyone at Last.fm actually respond to a message....

  • Okay.

    1. Internet connection is fine.
    2. The server is apparently up.
    3. Plug Ins are correct, and I have successfully scrobbled in the past.
    4. Do not use Windows Media Player.
    5. Software is up to date.

That does not help me at all and does not tell me where all of the tracks these scrobbled tracks are going.

Talk about frustrating. I've lost three months of listening history.

  • Same thing happened to me

The very same.. I was a lot less happy and less nice about it.

The site needs real tech support, I'm in favor of community based support, but why the hades would I click on ads or otherwise donate money if I can't get real support for issues? :(

In my case, it stopped a year ago even though it KEPT TELLING ME IT WAS SCROBBLING - leading me to believe that all was well, until I found out today that it knows NOTHING of the music I've been listening to for the past year, year and a half, or thereabouts.

I'm very frustrated, I've lost more than a year. I'm actually beyond frustrated, I'm quite angry.

  • I've had scrobbling issues with the last.fm client for at least 5 months now and there's nothing in the diagnostics saying that there's a problem. Needless to say, I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to throw my hands up and just give up on the client.

  • Well, Last.fm, any suggestions?

  • Try uninstalling the client, clearing residual files, and reinstalling:

Clearing residual files on Mac (Client).

Please try deleting Last.fm from your Mac, and then deleting any residual files.

The easiest way to do this is to open the Terminal app, and paste the following:

    rm ~/Library/Preferences/fm.last.*

    and

    rm -rf ~/"Library/Application Support/Last.fm"

    Then try reinstalling.

    Clearing residual files on PC:

Try uninstalling the Last.fm desktop client, then removing residual files by deleting the following folder:

    C:\Users\*YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME HERE*\AppData\Local\Last.fm

  • Okay, I will try that. Thanks.

But it doesn't explain why it once worked, and without any changes, has suddenly stopped. I would think you'd like to troubleshoot that in order to understand the error.

  • this happened to me for a few hours, all i had to do was close my scrobbler and itunes and re-open the applications and everything worked well again. Obviously y'all have tried this and it hasn't worked out. best of luck though.
