Detecting scrobbles on iPod but not sending them...?

  • Detecting scrobbles on iPod but not sending them...?

Okay, so after months of nothing the last.fm client decided to start scrobbling again and I was able to scrobble my iPod a few days ago. Yesterday, I plugged it in and got the pop-up "No scrobbles found on iPod" which is a lie, since I listened to music that day... I scrobbled through diagnostics and 'lo and behold, it found scrobbles to the songs I listened to... But the confirmation window (I have my scrobbles set to confirm before sending) never popped up. So I tried again today and same thing! Diagnostics finds scrobbles, but the client bubble message says there were none...

    - I'm using a first gen iPod touch, ver. 3.1.3
    - iPod is not on manual ('iTunes manages my music' etc)
    - Client is updated
    - iTunes 10.5.2.11
    - Windows 7

Wtf is going on? The client is set to scrobble, it's coloured in, but even if it weren't the confirmation window should pop-up.

Here is an example of what it says in diagnostics (since I can't copy+paste...):

    [120117 06:45:08] IPod::twiddle()
1 scrobble found for Arctic Monkeys ? Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys?

I did play that song, but that time '6:45' is wrong... I did not play it at 6:45 nor did I initiate diagnostics at 6:45.

If it means anything, I've always had to use diagnostics to find scrobbles...

    Help?

  • Happened again. I ran diagnostics again and it found the scrobbles, but they aren't being sent to my profile nor is the confirmation window opening. The cache remains empty. I've checked everything I could possibly check and everything seems in order... I even re-installed the client but nothing.

I feel like it's just half-way there. It can recognize the songs played and how many times played, but it refuses to scrobble them and says "No scrobbles found".

Here is a snapshot of the log when I use diagnostics:

(Again, the time that is there "1:36" seems random. My laptop says it is 20:51, same with my iPod).

As you can see, the scrobbles are 'seen' but they are not recorded. Could there be something that preventing the confirmation window from popping up?

  • I have read all the stickies and use the search bar to find similar topics and lurked other topics hoping to find a solution that worked but nothing is working. I've reached the end of my rope here.

I've 'discovered' something else, after I run a diagnostics check and it finds the scrobbles, at the end it says:

    SendToInstance (new instance): container.//SubmitScrobbleCache/Device/diagnostic/UNKNOWN/0000/0000

Under my 'devices' I have that "Unknown" and my iPod ("iphone"). Could that be a problem?

I've made some form of progress toward getting my iPod to scrobble again... I'm just missing something... It's gone from not even recognizing scrobbles during diagnostic checks to actually finding them. And, again, it scrobbled automatically randomly a week ago. There has to be something to get it to work.

  • Edit: It seems to have... fixed itself?

    Alright then.
