    find people on twitter?

    Would be nice to be able to find users that you follow on twitter. Just a thought ;)

  • .
    find banned user for me ... great :D

    by the way, this "Last.fm Contact Importer " read my e-mails and/or download this files, check them and all my privacy is in the nirvana?

    workaround:
    -create a new e-mail account (nirvana@whatever.com)
    -only import e-mails from last.fm
    -copy this address to the last.fm-settings
    -the friend finder checks your e-mail-address on last.fm and find nothing in other e-mails
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    sorry for my bad english :) ... opt out
  • this is great
    opt-in :D been waiting for this for some time!
    would love it if you could have twitter/hotmail/linkedin/blip.fm/grooveshark as possible contact sources
    additionally, the AJAXy "add as friend" buttons work very well- could we please have that on the "perhaps you know these people" page as well?
    Good work guys!
    That's totally unnecessary, as it can't read your e-mails. It only has access to your contacts. (You can see this from the page you're taken to, where google asks you to confirm that you want last.fm to be able to access your account information. The only service it requests is google contacts)
    Okay, that of right, I'm sorry, I had misunderstood this. only access to the contacts not the E-mails. i hope :)
  • great. late but finally here. had no problems and sent around 60-70 requests to friends.
  • Initial thots
    Seems to work, but responses to friend requests have not been confirmed yet.
    Of the three options, the Google Accounts interface seems to be the most unstable. I'm using Firefox, and I'm getting a blank screen when I grant access through Google Accounts.
    Thanks for inviting me to the beta, by the way. Much appreciated.
  • Thanks
    It is working like a charm! Thank you very much!
    Yep, just to confirm, all we ask for is a contact list.
    We absolutely can't read anything else, such as actual messages (that would be super creepy)
    It works perfectly, though unfortunately it seems many of my friends aren't on here anyway.
    It would be good (for Last.fm too) if on the Facebook part of the Friend Finder you had the option to post a status about your Last.fm account, something like:
    "[Your name] found that many of his Facebook friends do not have Last.fm. Join here and add them as a friend to share your music tastes." and perhaps link to your profile page.
    I am very pleased with this feature (and the free month of subscriber status to test it).
    At first I was unsure as to why I couldn't click on a name to see their profile, but I see from this thread that it's due to them not opting in or out. This is a good idea.
    My only suggestion is to make this more clear so people know why they cannot click through to the friend's last.fm page.
  • now that 3 of my friends "accepted" my request, i realized that i don't know who 2 of them are. unless they don't put their real names on profiles or they are obvious on profile photos, is it not available to know who that friend is?
  • If the user name is not visible and it's therefore not possible to send that person a message, then it would be nice to be able to add an optional message to the friend request.
  • cool, i got beta tester status :)
    can't wait to see this progress and go live, seems like most of my friends aren't opt'd in right now so it can't find them.
  • This.
    Is.
    Great.
    Thanks!
  • A link to their page would be nice
  • Chop-chop!
    I was looking back to see if you were looking back to see if I was looking back at you
  • First of all:
    The thing of suggesting people on Last.fm that are already befriended to at least two persons you know is quite good as it suggested two persons I befriended once but no longer do as I'm no longer active in the related community.
    Suggestion: As far as I remember, the old friend-finder made it possible to upload a list of mail-adresses manually (or maybe it was just a dream). As I'm not using one of the three supported services, it would be a nice additon to just upload a plain file or enter some adresses manually just to check if the person also uses Last.fm
    And +1 for the Twitter-option (or other social communities --> DeviantArt, Flickr, Identi.ca are those that come into my mind)
    +1 for twitter. Deviantart too!
    And, youtube would be cool as well.
    I tested in all options. Facebook seemed a little constrained in my opinion, as when I tried it, the tool found only 2 friends of 900 I have, and when I tried it with gmail it found 87 friends.
    Which fields are you gathering from facebook to do this search? Email? Complete name? Maybe a more broader search might result in more positives?
    So by default, finders have an 'add as friend' button but no link to my profile. If I opt-in, they get a link to my profile. If I opt-out, they don't even see me on the list. But how do I go back to the initial default setting? There's only full opt-in and full opt-out.
    It works
    +1 for twitter.
  • Thank you for making it happen!
    I'm testing it out and so far I'm really digging it. Found dozens of contacts. I'll make sure to come back give more feedback!
