Top 500 and beyond!!!

Ever thought about showing more than the top 500 artists someone listens to last.fm?

Asides from going to each individual artist page I have no way of knowing how many times I have listened to 81.9% of the artists in my library. That's right 81.9%!

This includes bands who I have played 24 tracks by on my computer since having this account, which in the case of some artists with a habit of making hour long songs, is not small amount.

i'm pretty sure that the prevailing logic is that you can check that in your library without much hassle... though, it would be nice if the entries were cataloged with a position number, as opposed to just the amount of plays. i'd rather they lifted the 200 artist group connection limitation, that one's the most annoying. if they're trying to cut down on the amount of similar groups, they should just put a moratorium on groups, after, say 10 that share 90% of their artists in common. some assholes just need to "own" things... hence the hundreds of indie groups... even more than five harsh noise groups seems pretty fucking ridiculous. have one for the japs, and one for everyone else. there. two groups.

the 200 artist group connection limit is problem for all groups but particularly a group like It's My Noise where you'd want the connections to celebrate smaller acts but also to try and represent that it's not a just a single niche genre group and also be there to help spread the word about the group.

hhheeeyyy.. i think i accomplished that with my back in the day blitzkrieg artist connections... but you're right. the bummer about the group now, is that to add any new artists, you'd have to first remove 600 other ones.

but the fact that i tried to make it represent more than a single niche has led to thousands of people being in that group that have no damn reason to be....

AppleKabukiSuri, I'm with you on this top 500 thing. I'm discovering new artists each week and I'd like to see them in my top artist charts. I'm not a fan of the library, I prefer the functionality of a numbered list. It would be a small thing for last.fm to include an option of say, top 1000 or top 1500, and it would please many of us.

I've requested this before but didn't get a reply then. I suspect the last.fm staff considers this a very low priority, because most users don't listen to 500+ artists.

It's a shame because including this option should be easily arranged. It wouldn't bother anyone and give those listeners with a library spanning hundreds of artists mucho joy.

more interested in giving away mp3 things. It's what i loved about this site. 500 doesn't seem a lot any more. I can't see how this would be so hard, as it's all logged.
