    Flagging bad quality tracks

    1. I sometimes come across bad quality tracks when listening to radio stations on the site. This could be static or other kinds of noise and it would be helpful to get this flagged for review. What the reason for the bad quality is I don't know, it could be streaming related or the source file, but the functionality would still be useful imo.

    2. I would also like a function to ban a specific version of a song from my content... Listening to Keane lately I've come across a few songs that have commentary by the artist mixed in somewhere during the track. This is something I really have no interest in listening to, so a blocking/avoiding feature for such content would be useful as well.

If any of this functionality exists already consider this a support request :P

Both of these features exist. There's even a big shiny button on the player for #2.

Well... doesn't that ban the all instances of that tract though? Which is not necessarily what I want.

And I can't figure out how to do nr. 1 still...

AFAIK Last.FM considers all tracks with the exact same artist and title to be the same track.

And I can't figure out how to do nr. 1 still...I think you can only do it with the standalone player, but don't quote me on it.

I'm not seeing a button or anything for what I'm asking here, neither in the web player or the downloaded windows player. I can see the "Ban" button but I don't want to ban every instance of a particular song...

I'm not finding it either. Maybe they took it out in the last website revision? No idea why they would do such a thing though. I could've sworn it was there...

  • I would guess this is because some versions of songs cost more to play, and they are trying to stretch their licensing buck.

Some of these live versions have 5 min of crowd and guitar wailing; not really what I'm here for. A function to Ditch certain versions would be welcome.

Maybe we can rename Live or poor quality songs a such, and they will be considered different?

You may be interested in this group or this one.

If you want something more subtle than ban you could fry tags or journals.

Yes but it doesn't overwrite one with another ... when a request to serve the track is made the version served seems random (actually the algorithm is load balancing by spreading the request among copies of the file).
