enough with this freedom of speech crap already! with freedom comes responsibility.

People who say this kind of thing almost always seem to mean "you all have a responsibility to not make me uncomfortable."

and i suppose the apathy strategy has worked brilliantly so far.

  • Free speech allows offending people with your justified opinion. Offending people for the sake of being offensive is immature and has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

not meaning to hijack this thread (because it is all about the same thing after all), but here's a shout currently being repeated RIGHT NOW on a shared artist page (Oceana):

"Screw that German n*gg*r, keep it the American band"

freedom of speech you say? where is it going to end?

    * * *

oh, i forgot to check the community guidelines:

There is zero tolerance for predatory behaviour, disparaging or defamatory comments, threats, harassment, illegal activities, invading privacy, propaganda, racial hatred, offensive cultural behaviour, vulgar or obscene content, or other inappropriate behaviour or the revealing of other members' personal information.

When I first glance that your comment I was offended but on closer inspection I noticed the i's were replaced with *s and I was not longer upset - A real life black person.

  • you shouldn't be allowed to tag michael jackson child molester because um...

here is something completely different that violates the community guidelines!

    acknowledge i'm observing.
  • "offensive cultural behaviour, vulgar or obscene content, or other inappropriate behaviour"

I see none of this in tagging Michael Jackson with "child molester"; it's not more obscene, offensive or inappropriate than anything else I see on anyone other artists' tags or shoutboxes.

If the same was done on an obscure artists' tags, this wouldn't be an issue, and it SHOULDN'T be an issue. You people are ridiculous.

I'm on the brink of INCEST

You're offended. That's all there is to it. Nothing happens. You're just offended.
    Get over it.
Wow. So right... haha. Man, next time someone makes a big deal about things similar to this, I am so stealing that quote. You're right though. It's almost like... who cares?

calling someone a child molester especially if there have been serious allegations they have molested children is not offensive cultural behaviour, vulgar or obscene content, or other inappropriate behaviour.

besides if fmera thought it was technically a violation then why didn't he say that it was instead of bringing a completely different case up?

  • this thread is lulz. the internets hurts my feelings.

surprised that that tag's only been applied to the gero.

  • y'know... i knew what i was going to see when i clicked on that link, yet... i clicked it anyway. also, that second one is a mighty fine tag.. that's good that it's been used on three different artists. sadly, none of them are michael jackson... though, i think it would be better for the jackson five!

  • A tad off topic

For anyone who might've missed it, this issue was discussed extensively in this thread.

  • If you don't want to get offended don't go on the internet, duh.

    P.S: Still hurtin' about MJ.

dude, michael jordan's been retired for awhile now, it's time to move on. i know it hurts, but in time, maybe the bulls will be competitive again.

  • Pfffff, whatever. He was five times the NBA's MVP dude. No one could ever take that away from him! I mean, sure the Bulls might return but it won't be the same without MJ, Kobe can't match up to his glory, He's retired for a while now, I know, but it still hurts dammit.

  • hey! i said competitive, they'll never relive those glory days... they'll be lucky if they make the playoffs next year since they lost ben gordon.

i think lebron will usurp kobe, eventually... he just hasn't benefited from the same quality cast of supporting players (and coaching staff) as kobe has had.
