  • I hate the new change. I go to last.fm to discover new music and now they are making it more difficult. I tend to go to myspace more often now because I can listen to all the music in one player, which makes it more user friendly. Just my two penny's, in short I hate the change.

ah finally I found out that these changes weren't a bug, but considered new features :(

I'm disappointed that last.fm doesn't communicate such major changes at least to artists directly. No hint on the music manager home page... I was wondering for quite some time what happened to my track player on the artist page until I found a note in the forums. And I had to save my featured tracks (that already existed) once again to make them appear on the page.

As a listener I can only say: it really sucks that you have to open a new tab / page for each song you'd like to listen to! Thumbs down for useability.
    Please revoke this change!

If you need this trick to increase revenues based on pageview, please think of another option for subscribers, or limit the track play to half of the album songs for non-subscribers. That would still be better than this change of "user experience".

Why is there still an 'autoplay' icon displayed next to albums in the search results list WHEN THERE IS NO MORE PLAYER AVAILABLE?!? A bad decision this was...

  • Agh!

The player on the artist pages was one of my favourite features! I have no clue what your real reasons are, but this can in no-way enhance useabilty.

It only makes it harder to get the content we want :/

Really frustrating and I see everyone else pretty much agrees at least ^_^

  • Sigh

I kept wondering why I couldn't play samples on the artist’s pages anymore. I thought there was something wrong with my browser, and then I thought that the service perhaps would require a subscription, and then I found my way to this forum. What a loss! It was such an enjoying way to discover new music. I would open hundreds of tabs from the similar artist’s page, and let the preview player go though some of their most popular songs. That way I could quickly process all the music I didn’t like, to find those rare gems that fitted my taste. But now it’s gone. Opening new tabs for each song is tedious and time-consuming. I guess there isn’t much to do if it’s because of financial reasons, so I guess I will have to find a new service that manages to earn money on it, like Spotify, that I hear so much about. But what a loss for last.fm

    Terrible change you made there.
Last.fm has almost no interest anymore.

  • I agree, being in Canada it does nothing for me now.

What about removing all players and to stop streaming any music?
Last.fm don't have to pay royalties any more and this stops as also the discrimination of users outside UK/US/GER because subscriptions are no longer required. A lot of exhausting software development could be saved in future, costs and staff will be reduced and we will re-activate our turntables what makes scrobbling impossible so that at last last.fm can concentrate all efforts on... ehm...???

Also, one of the most important thing is not to forget that LFM is providing a service also for the artist. And for the for many artists it's often about the experience of the album as a whole. If you as an artist have made the desicion to share all of your songs, then you also want to share the experience of your albums.

    that's exactly how i feel.

This is interesting, been away for a while, I've had to open a new tab to play each song for over a year now, I guess this player you're talking about that's gone now was never accessible to my screen reader anyway. I can't miss something that's been gone for at least a year or more from my point of view. I know I haven't been able to access the featured tracks player buttons since July 2008 at least, when the new site went online.

This is the most useless update i ever seen. I don't hate you about the radio, but you deleted player on album page ... that make you SOAB .

  • this is a sad-making 'feature' :(

  • hey! I'm streaming the full Kiss "Alive" album on lala.com! Just after I was streaming Levon Helm's new album!

Get yourself back into shape Last.fm. I used to be crazy about you but with iScrobbler and its awesome Local Charts (way more useful than Last.fm's), I have no use for you now!

The player was the main reason I visited this site, to discover new artists and to preview albums. But now it's such a pain in the ass that it's not even worth it anymore. I'm going to be visiting here much less for now on
