The thought had crossed my mind but there's no way I would just for this radio when the rest of the internet, my favourite applications etc all work perfectly well. I just wouldn't use the web player, which I don't normally anyway, I was just helping test it. I normally use the client and minimise it.

  • Try to deactive ABP

It seems that the new radio is blocked by AdblockPlus. For me it helped to set lastfm on the whitelist - which is not desirable...

Yes its terrible they require you to view the ads that pay for the service......

  • no slideshow: please don't show animated last.fm logo

    Hi,
when I deactivate the slide show while it is running, it just stops and shows the picture, I was looking at at that moment. That's fine with me.

When I restart the player then, it knows that I don't want a slide show. So I'm presented with a last.fm logo.
This logo is animated in the usual way.
    I find this _very_,_very_ annoying.
The animated last.fm logo is hard wired in my head with: "loading problems, running out of cache, the song is about to stop"
I guess I got that from the old player or the iPhone app.

Please don't use the animated logo (when everything is fine.). Or maybe you can indicate to my brain more clearly that everything is okay, when you think that displaying the animated logo is a good idea. Maybe a very small progress bar for the caching? Or you could
    1) use one static picture from the uploaded once
    2) use the album art (preferred)
    3) use the static last.fm logo
    4) rewire my brain so the animated logo isn't associated with "caching/loading is needed"

    Thanks

It is funny, with the new 'downgraded' webplayer the site is slow, so I do not use it, so I do not see the ad at the beginning, so it is counter productive, because I can not be the only person who finds the webplayer makes last.fm run slower than when they had the useful player.

  • It is a bit faster today, maybe just because there are less people using the site, but at least it is progress :o)

    still wating

hi, I'm still waiting for a proper fixing in playing with firefox. Fortunatelly at least the music comes out but nothings else works.
This is sad because now you're asking money for playing in your site and still did changes before things were working rather well. I don't think firefox is not a popular web-browser so that you did not check it before.

    KISS

I'd like to have a really minimalistic/fast version of the player and the website (as less as possible javascript/ajax/flash crap). I doubt if I get it :(.

It's a known bug with IE 6.0, see my screenshot on page 3 of this thread. The track title and time information is supposed to be inside of the player window as an overlay over the slideshow pictures. There's a screenshot in another thread where you can see how it should look like. Which browser do you use?

Thank you for the info!! It's good to know! I'm using Internet Explorer.

Works for me now, but the top of the player is missing all of its buttons at the moment, hopefully this will be fixed as well. :-)

The pause at the beginning of each song is still there, but it changes between 5 and 30 seconds now. Maybe this has to do with the absence of ads at the moment.

  • Yes a streamlined cut down version would be nice.

  • Thanks again for the feedback everyone, keep it coming.

Again, we're working hard to iron out bugs at the minute, and will bring back album info/art, add to playlist and a few other bits and pieces as soon as possible.

Some new client stuff will be making an appearance soon for those of us that want a more background/stripped down listening experience.

the tracks that i listen in the flash player stop scrobbling and they not appear in my Recently Listened Tracks charts after a few songs...
please try to resolve this issue asap!

    thanks

Yesterday I had to disable ABP to be able to listen to the radio - today it works also with ABP and withouth ads.

What's actually intended by you guys?

    __

And I would like to know from which album the song I'm listening to is :)

I like the "Your Library" feature very much on the new visual player page, but why do i have to scroll down every time before i can see this valuable information?

oh yes, you know the part of the visual radio player where it says eg:

    Your Library
You've listened to Shakira 58 times before
and Whenever, Wherever 16 times before.

can you make that "16 times" link to the track history page in my music library instead? that would be awesome.

Track history page?! Never seen that before. I'm quite sure there isn't a link to this anywhere on LastFM.

  • Hello, I would like to report that the new Last.fm web player is a resource hog. It uses 150 MB RAM and 20% CPU. And that's with slide show turned off. Comparatively, the old player didn't have a noticeable footprint.

    Firefox 3.0.10
    Windows XP SP3

    it's in your Library.

  • Where in the library? I've never seen a link to a track history page.

But if you click on this link then you can see that such a track history page is available in everyones library. Perhaps you have to enter the url manually in your web browser to get on this page.

So fmera's idea is very good to put this link as a clickable link in the "Your Library" section on the new visual player page.

This is already off topic but: are there any other pages like that and the country pages that can only be accessed by typing the url manually? And why don't they have a visible link if they exist?

sorry, i should have explained the background to this.

the existence of these "hidden" pages (there's that word again!) were first discovered/reported by RhYnoECfnW in this post. StudleyUK then wrote this greasemonkey script (in a single afternoon!) to enable direct access to the hidden track history pages from the "In your library (x plays)" links found in all track pages.

so this is just an extension of that idea - minor recoding (in a single afternoon?) to effect a major ui improvement.

    Choosing multiple artists

One of the things that has always annoyed me about last.fm still is the same way. Not enough plays of the artist I pick. If I pick Journey as my radio artist. I'd like to hear a song of theirs more than once every 10 songs. The multiple artists makes it even worse. I hear 1 of the 3 artists once in a millenium...I was hoping this would be improved. I can understand putting new artists in there about half the time...not 90% of the time. There's a reason I choose those 3 artists...it's because I wanted to hear them.
