Spelling Correction

  • Spelling Correction

Since this feature has been added, I've found it to be correct about 2% of the time, the rest of the time redirecting me to the incorrect track title. I still want my Koji Kondo to be translated, but I don't want so many of my plays going to the wrong song.

Translation and simple spelling should be different features. Or something... I don't even know. This system is just totally flawed right now. The intentions are good but the execution has not been. Audioscrobbler's old modification system was far superior.

    record label merge

Just noticed that In Tha Chamber http://www.last.fm/label/In+Tha+Chamber+Entertainment,+Inc. is right but catalog is split, some is in http://www.last.fm/label/In+Tha+Chamber+Entertainment,+In which is a spelling error

  • I wish I could have spelling correction for artist names, but not for track names.

It would be nice if they would convert all song titles to 'Title' structure. Some song are in all lower case, and is so annoying!

maybe it wouldn't be so lame if you pitched in instead of standing at the sidelines.

  • How about a complete change of the artist tag?

I've got tracks that have been tagged as being performed by multiple artists. Within the IDv3 these are labeled as "Artist 1; Artist 2" which sometimes results in errors as the artists are listed in alphabetical order and Last.fm doesn't look past the semi-colon.

As a result, even if the song was simply featuring Artist 2 in a guest spot, they'd get entire credit. I know that I can fix this manually in the IDv3 tag itself, but it's too late for the scrobble to be changed (I can delete the play, fix, and then replay if I was overly serious about this)...

So it'd be nice to suggest an auto-correction, so that when I play "The City Is Mine" it shows up as Jay-Z and not Blackstreet.

  • Do you know if any suggestion of corrections has been already approved by last.fm staff?

I wonder how many votes an artist needs to be corrected:/

  • I find it really interesting that artists like Nobuo Uematsu or Koji Kondo get redirected to their original spelling but if you scrobble 山岡晃 you get redirected to Akira Yamaoka. Actually, that's pretty annoying and stupid. Therefore, I deactivated this service with the effect that my stats got all screwed up. Great.

  • a sudden idea: what if this whole thing was not about correction but identity? i could mark a song to be the same as a mistagged one, and if it gets approved everyone will be happy.

more feedback on progress of auto correction

    Two suggestions:

I once read that the auto-corrections were updated on a weekly basis. I think it would be nice to actually see which new mappings are imported each time.

Moreover I would appreciate an option to have an overview of all the songs and artists I voted on and whether they were corrected yet. I know this data is stored somewhere as you can only have one vote on each song/artist.

I am already a member of that group. I'd just like more official output on this issue.
