I have a beef. Lastfm.com advertised itself as a site where you could play entire albums. I tried that--but the album selections listed for Bjork from other members were grayed out so that if you selected them nothing would happen. The only ones you could select only played one or two tracks, or not even that.
So, I spent time composing a playlist of fully playable selection tracks. Then, when I tried to play the playlist I was told I had to be a subscriber to play it! Even though I can play each track one at a time!
How bogus! I may as well buy one song for 99 cents off the Ipod site or others! So, I went down to Amoeba records and bought the albums I wanted for $3.00 a piece! What is the point of lastfm if you can't just play the music like on radio? Otherwise, it's just another corporate controlled site! If I want to buy the music, I'll go to my local store and buy it!
Though some albums are playable in full, I've never seen Last.fm advertise as being a place to do that. There are a lot of licensing restrictions which mean they can't just let you play whatever you want, whenever you want, except when they've been given (or have paid for) specific permission to do so by the copyright holders of that music.
You can listen to your 'library' radio station (well, you need a larger selection of artists and tracks in your library first) and to global tag radios without having to pay anything.
