I think the staff should communicate more with its members with discussions like these instead of poppin up once in a while and saying..this thread is closed..visit this one. Maybe then we would be able to understand the obstacle that they were facing in order to get this feature in working state.

I'm just trying to figure out why people are so desperate for a feature that just emails a form letter. It makes no sense to me.

There's so much to do on Last.fm that it makes it hard for me to explain it all in an email to a friend without making it sound like I'm getting paid commission or something. Scrobbling, radios (similar artists, tags, libraries), gigs, on-demand tracks, videos, charts, neighbours... All this stuff and more could probably be better explained by Last.fm than me.

Come on come on COME ON

We have waited since FOREVER for this.
I am so pissed off, I swear to God.
Judging from the many threads, and this one as well, I KNOW I am not the only one who wants this feature, so many others do to.
    This should be a priority.

  • Just Noticed...

I've been telling my friends a little bit about last.fm lately. I've been trying to get them to look at my profile page and stuff, thinking they might want one if they see one... It's hard to get them to look though, lol. So, an email thing would sure be nice.

I 100% agree with this statement:

"There's so much to do on Last.fm that it makes it hard for me to explain it all in an email to a friend without making it sound like I'm getting paid commission or something. • By the way...

Yea, an option to find friends on here would be nice, too. I guess that's what this topic was supposed to be about, lol. i only have 2 friends on here. I have no idea who else uses last.fm :(

Ive been thinking this exact thing for a fair while, then stumble across this topic :P

Agree with everything above, can't see any logical reason why it would take longer than a year to develop sonething as simple as this (being a social network site and all..)

surely the admins must notice that something such as this is affecting the influx of new members...

  • still waiting....

Hotmail etc doesn't have a public API like GMail has so its harder to code. but still if the staff can build such a wonderful site already..they can handle this simple feature.

  • no friend invite button

this is so annoying i have tonnes of msn and facebook contacts who id like to join lastfm and the only thing i can see is a find people button which is no good to invite yout address book i cant seem to get friends to join by word of mouth i noticed a sign saying coming soon for this feature but nothing since

For all Twitter people here, please sign and tweet the following petition: http://act.ly/7n
This would help gain a great audience on this problem. It's been a year since they stated that something would change. So please, follow the link and hope that they will listen to their "consumers"

    Cheers!

  • yeah ive been waiting for this feature aswell

    [dT] Dancing Tornado

  • did anyone mention that Pandora has this feature? How freakin hard is it to set up an invite. Even if its as simple as me inserting the email addy...Over a year really? Is this the fresh updates we can expect from last.fm? I would think an intern could create a quick little email invite code...IMO.

  • This is ridiculous. And a little bit embarrassing now. It's such a standard feature these days and I really can't believe it's been this long and nothing has happened.

  • This is indeed getting embarrassing. Nearly every social networking site has this feature these days. Come on last.fm!

Stay here with me. We'll start a jazz band.

Social? Without Recommended Reading? *scratches head*
Edit: Changed "Anti-Socialized" to "Desocialized" in title - I feel, the former was unjustified / antagonistic.

Thanks man for signing the petition! I hope to get a lot more twitter people from last.fm to sign it...maybe then we will get another staff response in a positive direction. The link to the petition is here

  • hmmmmm

this is kinda ghey tbh i think we have been forgotten about totally

  • In case you guys didn't know, you can add the Last.fm App to your Facebook profile and use it to find Facebook friends who are on Last.fm. Might be helpful.

Yes but in order to find those friends...those friends need to have the Last.fm application installed...so you need to tell all your facebook friends to install last.fm app...in order to see who has last.fm. You get what I mean?

It seems we want the Friend Finder back for different reasons; I want it in order to find friends who are already signed up to Last.fm who I know from elsewhere (Gmail address book, etc), and you want it to invite existing friends to sign up here.

Different? We all want it for the same reason. We want it so that we can find friends from other sites such as those used for social networking, email and such. Few examples are like you said..Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, Facebook, Myspace, and so on.

I think you misunderstood my earlier post. What i meant to say more clearly is that Facebook shows you how many friends (and who) uses a certain application such as Last.fm application. In order to find which friends have an existing account on last.fm they would need to have established the facebook application with their profile already, to know for yourself that they are last.fm users. If I haven't made it more understandable..forget it ;)

Being able to invite existing friends in a more professional manner through last.fm is just secondary reason to have this feature brought back.

I too would like this to come back, but perhaps it simply isn't possible. If this is the case then staff should really be more honest about it rather than having us hang here with no updates.
