you can still see the amount of your weekly scrobbled tracks by clicking on your charts & then hit "or browse by weekly snapshots". that'll show you the total number of weekly tracks, just like it used to.

    EDIT: I've foud it

    Last.fm groups:
    Endangered Languages
  • -tag clouds with tracks
    -tag clouds with artists
-LIST view with own tags - where ALL PAGES WORK!
    -reply tracker
    - easy way of tagging both tracks and artists
    - LONGER playlists! (and the axed-tracks-beyond #201)
    - album pictures - and the quilts from this in recently listened tracks - SMALL album pictures that is not huge ugly ones (or even worse, HUGE bland band pictures!)
    - *VERY few* clicks to access the most important stuff
    - working shuffle mode in streams (without any stupid clicks!)
    - a nice compact dashboard
    - ALL charts, not only at most the top 200 (and no, I don't want to have to click through 40+pages to try to get the same information I previously could get at glance and one or two clicks!)
    - randomly chosen tracks from the tags and randomly chosen groups/people/whatever when reloading ones profile page
    - digging trough info like groups or neighbours required little clicking since there were rather MANY items per page - now its so few on every page you have sometimes 40+ pages to scroll trough!

There are a few good points made in this thread, but also a few things which are still in the site, maybe users just haven't found them yet. So hopefully this will help out a few people:

Neighbours are no longer displayed on your profile page, but are available from the menu on the side of your profile

The same goes for tag clouds, they're not on the 'main' artist pages any more, but if you click 'tags' in the menu on the left you can still see the full cloud, rather than just the text list displayed on the main artist page

Also, a few comments I want to make on other things people have said:
"4) The size of the avatars. Is it just me or are they much smaller now?? "
They are bit smaller, yes - they used to be 160 x 160 pixels, now they're 126 x 126 px (if they're square.. for non-square images, I think they default to 126 px width, but I may be wrong on that point) - and yes, that's one hundred and twenty six, not 128, I have no idea why they're such a weird size

"I preferred the more precise information on when a track was last played: i.e. "1 day x hours ago" rather than "yesterday evening"."
The exact time stamps were shown on the original beta, but a lot of people seemed to prefer the way it's now shown. I agree with you personally that the more precise way is better, but that didn't seem to be the general consensus for some reason.

    "Event recommendations based on distance"
    I totally agree

    "1. weekly top artists
    2. how many scrobbled tracks in a week"
as some other people already pointed out, the old-style weekly charts aren't shown on your profile, but are still available if you click "Charts" then "browse by weekly snapshots"

The reply tracker, country pages, top 500 (rather than jut 200) charts, "paint it black" option, and forum search have all been confirmed in various places, by staff members, as on their way back.

Some bits of this have been pointed out already earlier in the thread, but hopefully this post will be useful to a few people :)

  • The Reply Tracker needs to return ASAP.

I miss the old image quilts, a way to see at a glance (from anywhere on the site) if I have a new PM, weekly neighbours, the ability to play previews and recommendations from friends in the client, group recommendations, and really while I like the new recommendations section, I would like to see my group and friend recs from here, too.

Friend recommendations (not coming back in a good way- i.e. playable on radio)

    Group recommendations (who knows)

Streaming recommendations/ music in-page and being able to read and respond to comments on songs (gone it seems for good)

    Recommendations viewable on one page

Recommendations just not being such a fag to use

Other things I am hoping will return before I throw a fit. I hope they sort out this whitey white whiteness asap too.

    Haha, thanks :'D

  • What I miss the most is of course the old layout and userfriendliness, but if we're talking specific features, then:

A more quick-loading site than is now the case o_0

Artists charts of 500 instead of the present 200

    Country pages

An instant way to check for new messages in inbox

I miss the old dashboard content which showed "events near you" + what the neighbours have recently listened to - Now dashboard/home is very useless!

And I badly miss my top neighbours in the right-hand column - I hope they return them.

I miss that groups showed the top 25 (?) weekly artists listened to by members instead of the present top 10! It's like it isn't about music anymore this way :'(

And I miss not having the "weekly listened artists" box right near the top - I do not like it to be hidden away!

Finally I miss the "artists" not being written below the song, or at least being written in a readable font.

What I would love to see is them moving the shoutbox back to the right to save me from all that scrolling. It looks to me as if there's enough space for a move.. but I don't know how realistic that wish is.

That's my no. 1 missed "feature" as well. Get the shoutboxes back to an accessible location!

    Why?

I'd like to see top neighbors below the friends for example, just where they used to be.

I don't know why, that's something a staff member would have to answer. There's certainly enough space at the bottom of that right-hand column that they could go back there if the staff decide to return them to the profile page.

    :)

  • -neighbors on the profile page (i know there's a link, but that has been one of the most interesting things to me, why hide it?)

-shoutbox at the top of the page

-album cover art of recently played tracks as a quilt, that was sooo beautiful

-album cover art on the album charts page

-the option to hide/minimize the flash player (i don't need it)

    sorry for repeating issues :-)

  • Most of the things I miss have been mentioned already, so I won't bore anyone repeating them.

I miss the event updates of my friends on the dashboard, it was a good and quick hint which band is on tour when without having to click through all of my friend's events.

  • I miss having my weekly top artists on my profile page!!!
But most of all I miss having 50 top artists shown instead of 15!!!! :'(
And I miss my neighbours too.

  • I really don't know why so many people are complaing because of the new shoutbox position. Surely I would like to have it visible when I enter the page, but actually YOU DON'T NEED TO SCROLL DOWN! Just click on the number of shouts under your username and you will be automatically taken to the shoutbox without scrolling.

I miss the quilts though :(

  • Weekly Artists chart...

  • 1. Weekly Artists Chart.

BUT, having placed a lengthy rant here about wanting it back on the main page, I actually did some messing about with the new format and realized that it can be done!

Simply change the Settings next to "Top Artists" on your actual front page from the default to 7 days. Then change the number of artists shown from 20 to 10. Voila! You now have a weekly artists chart right there on your page.

Of course, this eliminates the longer, more complete Overall Top Artists chart that we all know and love. But I suppose you still have the photo version of your Top 10 overall artists near the top of the page.

Maybe last.fm could consider making the charts on the main page even more editable! Say for instance allowing me to slide them around the page, like I can do on Facebook™? That would rock! Or allowing the user to add another chart, equally able to be edited, so I can return to the glory days of seeing 50 Overall Top Artists AND 10 Weekly Top Artists right there on my page. And I could even move the Shoutbox somewhere closer to the top and banish that dreaded last.fm music player to somewhere near the bottom!

How about it? The ability to reconfigure your own page individually? Is this a future possibility?

clicking on the number of shouts just uses javascript to scroll down for you. you're still scrolling, it's still slow. if for no other reason, I liked the shoutbox up towards the top so I'd actually glance at it. when I look at someone's page, what shouts they've recieved is about as far from my mind as possible, but when I'm looking at(was looking at?) their weekly and top artist charts, sometimes I'd notice an interesting conversation.

I'm certainly not going to be 'bumping into' or 'glancing across' something relegated to the bottom of the page, even if it does take up more space than all the charts combined...

The biggest thing for me is I really miss weekly top artists not being at the forefront and having to click on last 7 days to see them. It was so much nicer when it was right there at a glance on someone's page.

    The shoutbox being up top.

Having the top artists and tracks below the library. It was nicer when they were at the very top.

    All farewells should be sudden
