  • honestly just give us classic look option. fixed

it will fix all the problems. the large slow to load pics would be gone as well as this annoying nav bar. the up to the second powers, library, and new in page player rule. just not they lay out.

  • honestly after naving the ting it is just slow and to flashy. the utility makes it better over all though.

  • agreed

Agreed, listen to the feedback, don't just keep the new design because you spent time on it.

    This new layout f_cking SUCKS!

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but what graphic design temp/intern did you get to revamp the GUI for the website? You took a website that looked great, was easy to manage and instead f_cked up the information heirarchy.

Please offer an alternative so that people can reskin their pages with the older version. The header/banner "chalk" pastiche is horrible.

.... AND ANOTHER THING: I totally miss being able to minimize sections of my profile which I found annoying (IE: click the + or - to max or min areas of the profile). Now I'm stuck having to look at a freaking ugly flash player for my "playlist" in the upper right corner, with no way to hide it under the carpet.

If you're dead set on keeping this tired looking GUI with crappy data placement, at least let us hide the parts we want like before!

Let us not forget that the fact that so many people have needed to be told how to adjust aspects of their profiles simply because the design interface is not intuitive and serves to frustrate and confuse users both old and new. This shouldn't and wouldn't be an issue if the constraints of the design scheme felt natural and the user was provided ample feedback/response.

Clearly, someones got a boner for a certain social networking site that starts with "F" and ends in "ACEBOOK".

  • well it looks pretty badass, but there should be an option to switch back if you prefer and stuff. some people like me, like the old one but it might just be cause we are used to it

I like the old layout better, it focused on the chart system and u could add decorations. Everything you wanted to present on your page was there. Now it's the opposite. Only my top15 artists/songs display on the main page. Everything is down to the right column.. I have the player on the top right hand and I don't want it. Why do I need a player on my page when I'm listening to songs on my itunes that scrobble. It's too flashy and too confusing. I don't want flash, I want simple. I appreciate it and stuff but really.

  • YES! Options would be great! Just like red/black...

The fact that your settings on how many top artists etc to display only seems to work locally, and not for everyone seeing your user page is also very annoying. I'm a stats junkie and I was very peculiar about my stats on my last.fm page, hardly showing my stats is a big step backwards.

See that red banner at the top of the screen there? I've seen it before, where was it...oh yeah, Myspace.com.

Oh yeah and since this looks like Facebook so much, I don't think I'll ever make myself an account there.

I agree that it looks far too much like Facebook. A recent activity section? Remind anyone of a mini-feed? (Yes I have disabled it already.) And the fact that people have already mentioned, that the whole point of the site, the stats and charts, has been reduced to a couple of Top 15s. I mean how many people only have 15 favourite bands or tracks? A top 50 gives people browsing through your profile a much better idea of what you like.

  • new layout BLOWS

i think the old layout was perfect..cant stand this one..and i loved how the charts were so esy to access and organize before...i dont want to get used to this. at least myspace gives its users the option of switching back to the old format. last.fm should give its users that liberty. it'd be amazing and make a lot of people happy. whoever likes the new version can have it and be merry but NOT ME haha

    Yes

A classic look option would be great. We need some structure in the information, not all those big pictures and other unnecessary stuff.

No matter how much you whine, they won't. And for a reason: this is an improvement (that cost money to make). Some tweaks will most likely be made during the coming months, though. But I'm pretty sure that most of the criticism will die down as people will get used to the new layout.

What the hell crazy version of MySpace are you looking at?

There's not going to be any 'classic look' option, maintaining two different versions of the site takes a lot more effort and money than just having one, and 99% of the people moaning at the moment will have shut up this time next week anyway, once they get used to it and realise it isn't Satan in the form of a website.

Hmm, actually now you post those images, I think I see his point! They're both horizontal, and with logos and links on them!
