New Interface

I read OP and some of the comments, Yolanda basically said what I thought.
Just would like to add that the old layout was much more space efficient and made more sense.

They could have added all the new functions and scripts without changing the layout and the feel of the site.

They gave the site the whole Facebook layout and feel to make it more accessible to new users who derive from the other social networking sites, but they didn't realise that the new layout feels EXTREMELY uncomfortable for the old/veteran users. Not only that but anyone with any sense of design knows that the post-Myspace layouts are ugly, dumb-down and very impractical.

Last but not least the banner is horrible and cheap, it looks like it was made by a kid who discovered photoshop and "vintage" on the same day. No offence but it really does.

I mostly agree with Karatekomando and didn't check out the recommendations on this new version yet but what Yolanda mentions sounds really sad.

I'm not having any problems concerning the loading speeds and I'm glad that stats (Top artists, top songs, etc.) are now really being generated in real time. That's nice!

And what I think no body mentions (well, I just read 3 pages) is that new "compatibility-bar-thing" needs Javascript for rendering! I'm not completely sure but I think the old one was pure server-side generated HTML.

Having an option to use the previous Last.fm version would be awesome.

Wowww, I hate it. Like so many people said, it's just like everything else on the internet now.
I used to be on here like everyday, and now I hate it alot so I barely come on.

Not to mention it freezes forl like 15 seconds every time I click a fucking button.

this is terrible. last.fm is turning into facebook, and we're not here for facebook, are we? it's much too image dense, takes way too long to scroll down, has far too many options, isn't user friendly, isn't compact. things aren't placed in a logical order and it's crashing people's computers left and right. what happened to the weekly top artists? i know change is good, but it's not good when it sucks. sorry. if nothing else, a nice compromise would be being able to switch between the old and new layouts, like you can do on ebay or myspace, so people can decide.

I realize it takes time to adapt to new things, and like most things, if change is made I try to get used to it, nothing I can do about it. BUT, I dislike the new interface greatly and only wish there could be an option of switching back to the older interface.

One of symptoms of feeling unsecure about own oppinion is when one ofends people with opposite oppinion. There are obvious holes in his reasoning and he needs to fill them with sth...

I know this has been said a THOUSAND of times and that you small bunch of users who are still complaining think it's ridiculous, but don't tell me that you knew how to use the previous site in a couple of hours/days. It's the same thing, really. But I guess humanity isn't built for adapting to change immediately..


Okay, there are a lot of changes who still need to be applied, BUT they ARE listening to us. The wiki editing history is here, the reply tracker, the 'paint it black' feature and the inbox viewable on the page! Just have a bit of PATIENCE. It's not the end of the world. It takes a LOT of time, as they say: Rome wasn't built in a day.

Small forum bug, again? Probably! I can't see Ginfress' last post, AGAIN. Please fix this as soon as possible staff? ;)
