New Interface

When I first saw the previous version, I thought "OK, this will take a little while getting used to, but it might be an improvement in the long run". When I saw this version, I thought just that: "Ouch." And then: "Why?" Please, please, please, give us the "revert to old interface" button.

summary of my opinion (and this thread):
love the new features, hate the new layout.
I think it has potential, but it's too big clunky and myspace/facebook like. and the pop ups (joining a group for ex) are annoying as well, too facebook like.

I have been with this site since audioscrobbler days. Last.fm was a change, but the positives outweighed the negatives. with this redesign the negatives far outweigh the positives.

key things i hate: library pictures, "shout box" being at the bottom and huge, and lack of top 500 (shouldn't even be a # should be every artist/track ever played in time frame), and top 15 instead of top 50 (i listen to too much 15 artists is barely anything to get a feel for my tastes).

Absolutely terrible. I wish you had the option to remove things from the page. I'll never use the player (which is right at the top for instance and never seems to load properly for me anyway). And all those artist pictures in the centre is absolutely useless. I want to see the charts first and foremost, which has suddenly become a secondary thing for some reason, not a bunch of pictures. Are they trying to attract more 14-year-olds who love myspace or something? I thought this was a haven for music-lovers.

I miss Tag Clouds - they were so unique to last.fm and gave GREAT visual information! It looks like you guys are trying to improve the visuals here, but please don't do away with the tag clouds. They were amazing and gave a quick assessment of what people think a band "mostly" is compared to what they "kinda" are.

Also, why so much wasted space in the Recently Played section? You made my album covers smaller for what, more blank useless space between track info and heart symbol? It's not even worth it because there is a blank spot for albums with no artwork, causing a sloppy, half-loaded appearance. Maybe you could put the little black "vinyl" image in that spot instead of blank space. Two or three pictures randomly on that list is difficult to look at for people who are used to nice clean tidy information.

There are too many different size pictures all over now. Avatar, current track album cover, recently played album covers, library photos, banner box o.O' I think a lot of people enjoyed the nice symmetry of repeated and similar information on their charts, much like a music library folder. Please consider making the images more uniform to eachother and filling in the gaps. I'm betting that will calm some of the "this hurts my eyes and is ugly" comments.

Speaking of the new features, I didn't like that library thing. Top artists list functions the same way so why taking so much space on the layout? I hate that I have to scroll a long way down to see my shoutbox. And the columns on either side of the charts seem so bare.

Why so vertical, last.fm?
Why so red & white and no "Paint it Black" or whatever?

The new look is just awful.....really hating it. It's slow and the look is ridiculous. It looks so much like Facebook which I dislike. What was wrong with the old last.fm???? Why feel the need to change something that worked????? I loved the old one and now I don't even want to come here anymore. You didn't change it just a little bit but completely......what a silly thing to do. Lots of people are upset by this but I guess that doesn't matter to you guys eh?.....it's not for us ....but for the elitist designers? What a shame!!

Last.fm have always been one of my favourite things on the internet, and I stop by almost every day to check my profile and check out music.
Now I'm almost getting depressed by looking at the awful new layout, I don't think it has any nice new feautures at all , you've just taken the whole last.fm concept a few steps back. Please please let me have my old profile layout back, or at LEAST let the users choose between the designs or something like that. I hate the fact that I can't check in on my profile anymore because I get sick of the new look.

and btw, I hate that the "most listened to" lists are shortened in the new layout, Yes I know you can click on view more to see more but I'd really like to see as much as I did in the prev layout. man! I'm getting so frutrated here..!

That looks so much better than the site format now. Hats off to the person that made it and thanks for sharing.

It gives a better look, sleek, still retaining all the features that were implemented. I wouldn't mind a look similar to that, if not exact.

This is the ideal Last.fm look!
