  • Info about the track.

Often, when I listen to music I read about the artist in the Last FM software, and I had a thought. I don't know if I'm the only person who'd find this interesting but feel it would be good if people could write information about the song aswell. What year the song was released, where is reached in the charts.. or if there's a story about the song- for example like how the song TocarGolden Brown is supposed to be about heroin. (which probably isn't the best example to use,but the only one I could think of.)

Does anyone else think it would be good, or am I alone here?

On the beta site (and as a subscriber, you have access to the beta), tracks (and tags) can have wikis as well as artists.

  • Oooh thank you, I'll have a gander.

  • I like it.

I don't really understand what a beta site is? Is it how the website will look eventually?

Yeah, the beta version is the new version of the site. Basically, they're redesigning the whole website, it's not ready yet but they've opened it up for subscribers and some normal users to have a look at it and see if there are any bugs to be fixed, what improvements the community would like to see, etc., - in a few weeks that will be rolled out as the full site to replace what you see at the moment.

  • Will it look exactly the same as the beta site? Because that version doesn't look very pretty :(

They're still tweaking at the moment. I personally don't think they'll go back to the current look, but I think they are going to improve where they can.

500th Track: It's All About The Benjamins 1000th Track: TocarDiamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix) (feat. Jay-Z) 2000th Track: TocarMy Love 2500th Track: Jesus Walks 5000th Track: Playground 10000th Track: Tocar'Round Midnight
  • Oh right. Yeah I mean, I'm all for change, but the beta site looks quite dull & I really don't want to lose interest in this site, but I can imagine I would eventually, if the site ends up looking like that.

In that case, you may want to go have a read of and post in the beta forum, and tell the staff what you do and don't like about it :)

They've already made a fair few changes based on user input, so it's worthwhile posting about anything you particularly don't like.

  • I don't really know if it's worth mentioning, and I would probably come across as whiney (Saying that, I probably will still end up going to the beta forum & mentioning it). I just think the beta site looks really plain & white. Should be abit more colourful and lively :)

You should discuss this in the Last.fm Beta Group, as not everyone in the feedback forum has said access, so discuss it in the group where it can be more accurately discussed

  • Thanks for the tip.. I said about what I didn't like about it in the beta forum, so that last message of mine is pretty pointless, sorry folks.

I couldn't agree more with you

If it's worth quitting the site, it's probably worth mentioning.

  • I gave last fm my negative feedback :)

  • Also, i was thinking. If last FM didn't want to change how the beta website looks, I was wondering if we will be able to customise our own profile?

If the rest of the site is going to look that dull, it'd be nice if i could at least add a pretty background to my own page?

  • Probably not going to happen, find a thread about "making last.fm more like myspace" for more info.

However greasemonkey scripts exist that allow alot of change, in fact there is already one that changes the beta to a black version.

All comments reflect the views of the poster and not of last.fm or it's management.

sucks that it's only for firefox.

    Resistance is futile :D

I use safari. Only pop into Firefox for my chart changes script, but it's not working through right now with all the changes going on so.... Safari for me.

    *grins sheepishly*

okay, so i use firefox too. but only for the plugin that lets you conveniently insert bbcode via contextual menu. otherwise, it's a pain editing wikis.
