Scrobble an internet radio station?

  • I agree that applications like Orb, Winamp Remote, etc. should scrobble. It only makes sense if you're dealing with your own library.

  • While I am disappointed about the streaming radio not being added, this thread does explain why it is not happening.

I would suggest you mention it in "why can't I scrobble" thread which is tagged up the top of the forums. It doesn't mention it at all.

    please...

I also listen to a stream from my pc at home... I miss the scrobbling :(

  • Ditto!

Just jumped on the "steam my music from home while at work" band wagon and would LOVE to have scrobbling work :)

  • on my appinion scrobbling of radio stations should be enabled in last.fm ...

  • Another person here for the bandwagon of listening to home-based mp3 collection when at work via streaming. It's frustrating that I can't scrobble my own music unless I'm at my desk at home.

  • I've tried many times to listen to Last.fm's tag radios but unfortunately, at the moment, I find they're just not as good specialist radio stations. I would hope that with more new information about my listening habits (albeit via competitors) Last.fm's own radio stations might improve and be more use to me. Isn't that the point of scrobbling..?

I would also like to be able to scrobble streaming radio stations so that I can use 'Recently listened tracks' to more easily identify new tracks that I like and add them to my Last.fm favourites/playlist.

The chances are pretty high that if those tracks happened to be available to buy from 7digital as MP3s then I'd click through and buy them.

I'm not too worried about the accuracy of the tags on my music, as long as the artist and title are correct. And, for my purposes, there'd be little point in scrobbling a radio station that doesn't get at least these details accurate.

  • i am uploading my own mp3's to laut.fm. some others do too and everyone can compile their own playlists out of the material which has been uploaded so far to stream it to oneself or anybody else.
unfortunately no one is able to scrobble this music to last.fm because last.fm is rejecting it.
the statistics of my listening habits at last.fm are beginning to lose relevance because of this.

There has to be a solution for mac users.
My most-listened-to thing is by far Shinsen-radio and I really want to scrobble it.

How can I "Share what I'm listening to" if it doesn't accept what I'm listening to?
    =\

I love last.fm and it's actually changing how I listen to my music which isn't good. I know there are some iPod solutions out there but it's way too arduous to set up. So that's a huge frustration. Then my other huge frustration is of course what everyone is talking about here. Not being able to scrobble streaming radio.

Last.fm bot mandatory if you want to stream a radio station. Bot uses fingerprints to identify songs. Will not accept song if it cannot be located in fingerprint database.

I'm obviously not a developer, so naturally that could be a crock of horseshit. But yeah. Random ideas throwing out..

Man, I'd get it just for the sake of doing that if I didn't have several music players and a severe lack of space :\

  • I was surprised that Winamp Remote tracks don't scrobble - I'd sort of assumed they would be logged as plays - so definitely a vote for that.

  • Yes, I also agree with this point. 80% of all music I hear at work. I'm not allowed to put my mp3s on the computer here but I'm allowed to stream my music from home. So it would be a cool solution for me if a stream would scrobble.

  • I am also very disappointed by this... I also stream my home collection, so all of the tags are correct (or at least as correct as if I was listening at home ;-) )

I happen to know of a workaround for you self-streamers, if you are willing to change the way you stream. Check out Jinzora (jinzora.com). It keeps track of what is streaming, server-side, and scrobbles tracks at the appropriate time. Personally, I think Jinzora overall is a bit overkill, and kind of bloated, preferring Edna myself...(edna.sourceforge.net) but I am reconsidering, mainly to have my scrobbles...

"the statistics of my listening habits at last.fm are beginning to lose relevance because of this."

    Exactly what I was thinking.

  • +1

Yes, I want this feature too.

  • Indeed!

  • +1

+1 from me too. More people are streaming over LANs now than ever.

finally have ADSL+ and 2Mbps up and gnump3d

I can now listen to my music from work and anywhere, but not scrobble ! I do listen to streams too, e.g. philosomatika (stompingly good) and tagged very well imo, but again not scrobbled.

I find it incongruent not to allow scrobbling space-shifted content.

I can see that it opens up scrobbling to 3rd party minipulation, eg radio stations looking for exposure, and the subsequent degeneration of a cat and mouse game in updating filter lists. However as people shift their listening habits this issue will need addressing, sooner rather than later, if only to satisfy demand from your users and pre-empt rogue plugin developers.

  • I vote too - scrobble internet radio streams

Most of my listening is via internet radio. Scrobble the streams already.

What a frustrating day to go through all the figuring out of winamp. lastfm client software only to come across a googled forum post hours later about why it doesn't work.

I vote to scrobble internet streams. doo eet

Internet Radio scrobbling has my VOTE too

I also like many ppl here listen to an internet radio at work (soma.fm) and would like it to be scrobbled.
It would be very interesting what recommendations would the system give me after a week of listening to Space station and/or Groove Salad :)

  • Guys, we aknowledged that there is an interest in a radio scrobbling feature and more in general scrobbling streams over the web/http/LAN, etc.

We don't have nothing against it but technically at the moment, as stated in the beginning of the thread, ID3 informations associated to streams (when they are present) are not considerate consistent enough to base a whole scrobbling feature on it.

Anyway this thread is not really making much sense in the client support forum. If you want to discuss new features i think is better moving to feedback and ideas.
