subcription question

I would be willing to pay up to 10 € per month for the Last.fm super-subscription, but only if all majors are back and if continuous play of tracks from one artist, continuous play of whole albums and so on is possible.

Downloading tracks or albums is not very important for me, but if it would be possible too, i wouldn't say no. ;-)

Continuous play would do it for me too, although I realise it would probably be breaking some newfangled fancypants law if Last.fm brought it back.

I wish I could see new stuff tomorrow, but probably I won't. As always :).

Continuous playing of songs would be fantastic, I'd love to play my favourite tracks all the time.

Altough last.fm is superb, it needs some fixes, like merges or mess in albums.

Give us a web based media player with playlists, continuous plays etc for the love of god. Unlimited playes withe the current state where you have to go to different pages for different artists is plain unusable

The whole world will be in the 'on-demand group' after the beta phase is over.

do we know when the beta will be over and this feature rolled out to the rest of us?

    Beta is never over... ;)

Just thought I'd define terms as I'm guessing there's a little confusion.

Continuous Play = eg when you play an album, click on track one and then not be required to click on subsequent tracks. (auto-advance) So basically, it's like listening normally, you set your album to play and go do something else.

On-demand = when you can play a track as many times as you like.

I hope to hear something from the staff very soon. I just can't wait, I thought about this case all of the day :P.

"It's done when it's done" - that's typically the stuff's standard answer for such questions!

Sometimes very frustrating, isn't it? :-(

We discussed this topic here too already: http://www.last.fm/forum/21717/_/451775

I am personally in doubt about that this Last.fm super-duper-subscription service will ever come to life - but let's wait and see and let us perhaps celebrate the first birthday of the announcement on the 23rd of January 2009! ;-)

Well, waiting until 23rd of January would be a crime. :P

But... SOON can mean 1 day, it can also mean 1 year.

I have one question - where you can see the new subscription advert?

As mustaqila said earlier in this thread:

Apologies, this is something that's only viewable in selected countries where we'll have this feature rolled out first.

So i think it's only visible in US, UK and Germany at the moment...!?

Why? No more than noisy advertising at the moment from my point of view!

It's better than nothing. Also you have the guarantee that something will be going on the site.

    Guarantee? No!

    Flicker of hope? Perhaps!

    ;-)

  • To clarify one thing here, it has never been said that the UK, US and Germany are beta testing the Free On-Demand service for other countries and it'll simply be rolled out to those once this is over.

You can refer to these blog entries for more information about Free On-Demand, that hasn't changed:

Regarding the upcoming subscription service, I can't give you any other details about this but what has already been said (yes, some things take longer). I guess keep an eye on the blog, if there are news, we will announce them.

No, but to be fair, that was the assumption we all had - that we in these 3 countries were testing something for everyone else.

That's great that we have more information now, but... there was an appointment of super-subscription in January. So can we expect the new service in this year? Sorry for being so curious, but I had to ask.

Today's the 23rd of January, still nothing's been pushed forward with new subscribing system, I hope something's going on though.
