Sat 15 Aug – The Flaming Lips
This was my first Flaming Lips concert, and I loved it! It started a bit (a lot actually) late, but it wasn't too bad because the opening band Stardeath and White Dwarfs was very good and the time that the Lips spent setting up paid off.

They opened with Race for the Prize as usual but not after Wayne rolled around in the crowd in his life-size hamster ball for a bit. With balloons and confetti and streamers everywhere, it was insanely fun.

After that, it's all kind of a blur. There was a lot of smoking going on (Wayne said that the racetrack was OK with you smoking pot as long as the Flaming Lips were there) which is cool but can kind of fry your brain. I know they played

Silver Trembling Hands even though they promised they'd never play it again after Pitchfork 2009, but I'm not supposed to tell you that. I think they played

The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song and

Vein of Stars at some point, too.

Then came a slow and relaxed (awesome) version of

Fight Test followed by

Pompeii Am Götterdämmerung…
