Best year so far. About 2 out of 3 festival goers were working for the BBC, but never mind - the weather was tolerable (even the storm didn't leave us wallowing in mud!), it wasn't too crowded, the family field wasn't overrun with armies of middle-class civil servants battling the forces of law and order, and the pie and mash van was well stocked with gorgeous loveliness.
Favourite sets would be The Vaselines, Tricky, Patrick Wolf, and Nick Cave And The Bad Seed. Mrs Ouwho tells me Grace Jones blew her mind but I was soothing an overtired 4-year-old so I missed it. We also caught Thom Yorke and everyone there seemed to find it a religious experience. Me, I've always been a bit ambivalent about R'head, and I found the solo set a bit whimpery. At times, I think he was a bit embarrassed to be playing that kind of music to such a massive crowd too. It didn't really work. But I think I'm probably a minority opinion there...
