WHAT IS THE TIPPEX WEDDING FESTIVAL ?
The Tippex wedding festival is a benefit festival to support a… wedding party. All the bands play for free or for costs and the tickets incomes are going to cover the costs of a party July 5th to celebrate the wedding of the fiancés, but also the cake, a brand new pair of white All Stars Converse and a dress for the bride, and the honeymoon (in Margate or Hawaii, depending on the success of the festival).
WHO IS GETTING MARRIED ?
This festival will celebrate the union of Keith, the scottish drummer of the band The Chap, and Marie-Pierre, the French lady who runs the Julie Tippex booking agency. They live and work together in the Tippex Towers in London, Stoke Newington.
ARE THEY RELATED TO KEITH AND JULIE TIPPETTS ?
No, but the name of Marie-Pierre’s agency is a secret hommage to her .

SORRY, WHO’S JULIE TIPETTS ?
Born as Julie Driscoll, she first was in charge of the Yardbirds fanclub. She sang in the Steampacked with Rod Stewart and Brian Auger. In 1970, she gets married with the jazz pianist Keith Tippett (who plays witch King Crimson on the 70/72 period). She’s a mate of Carla Bley and Robert Wyatt, and her husband has massive sideburns. She’s cool.
WHY A BENEFIT FESTIVAL ?
Getting married isn’t very rock’n’roll. And having a cool party was the only condition for these two chaps to get married. The problem is that a decent cool party costs money so, they would have to ask their parents. But all the parents on the planet are the same than records company for an album launch : they always arrive with a long and unexpected guest-list. As the Tippex kids want to have a cool party and they are poor, they prefer to ask their friends playing in bands and party with them instead of boring uncles and useless cousins.
WHO GONNA PLAY ?
The acts are : Agaskodo Teliverek (DJ set) – Allez Allez (DJ set) – Arthur House (DJ set) – Paul Artrocker (DJ set) - The Chap (live) – Felix Kubin (live) – Le Chevalier de Rinchy (DJ set) – Le Club des Chats (live) – Man from Uranus (DJ set) – Serafina Steer (live) – The Rebel as The Stallion (live) – Um (live) - Youri Margarine (DJ set) and Sweets O’Shea (boogie woogie).
THERE ARE TOO MANY BANDS ! AND I DON’T KNOW MOST OF THEM !
It’s your lucky day : Johannes (The Chap) and Vincent Oliver (Lo Recordings) will be compere of the festival nights and introduce you to every single band.

I WORK IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. CAN I COME FOR FREE ?
No. Or we’ll just go to Margate for the honeymoon and we would prefer not to.
DO YOU REALLY HATE MARGATE OR WHAT ?
No we don’t. Margate has a rich and colourful history. We even have friends who live there. But we would prefer to go on a paridisiac island.
CAN I COME WITH MY MATES TO THE PROPER WEDDING PARTY WITH THE TICKET ?
We’re afraid you can only access if you’re a member of a of a band playing in the Wedding Festival, a friend, or a boring uncle or a useless cousin that we won’t be able to avoid.
WHY SHOULD I COME THEN ?
Because love is beautiful, and bands are beautiful.

The Tippex Wedding festival is organised with the help of the happy Tippex Family : Emma, Ruth, Joe, Flash and Thilini.
The Tippex wedding festival is a benefit festival to support a… wedding party.
