Sun 7 Jun – Nine Inch Nails, Jane's Addiction / Tom Morello & Boots Riley Street Sweeper
Been to about 8 NIN shows now (since 2000) and I have to say that this was perhaps the most satisfying of them all. The lighting and screen effects that were prominent in NIN's previous shows (particularly during the Lights In The Sky Tour) are missing from this tour so that does take away a bit from the performance but what was lacking in lighting was more than made up in the Trent's song selection for the show. Here's the set list:
Somewhat Damaged
Terrible Lie
Heresy
March Of The Pigs
The Frail
Metal
I'm Afraid of Americans
The Becoming
Burn
Gave up
The Fragile
I Do Not Want This
The Downward Spiral
Wish
Survivalism
Echoplex
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole
Hurt
For the most part every song was spot on although you can tell that there were some missing elements without Alessandro (or some other full time Programmer/Keyboardist). This was most notable for me at least during the ending of March of The Pigs but I was pleasantly surprised to see how hard Trent and co. worked at rotating programming responsibilities. My favorite songs are "The Becoming" and "Somewhat Damaged" so I was thrilled that they decided to play those songs. Other standouts were "I Do Not Want This," "The Downward Spiral," and "Heresy." I had never heard these songs live in-person so I was just blown away with how they sounded. My only complaint really about the show was the weather, it was damn cold and windy but all-in-all I have to say that this was perhaps my favorite NIN show.
