...and at this point I had had it. Ended up that I had the flu, which kicked my butt for the next week.
So, 46 shows in 4 days...not too bad, but fewer than I had hoped. I ended up seeing more of my favorite bands as opposed to my normal mode of operation of checking out new music during SXSW.
Best day parties were certainly at Fast Folks Cyclery, Home Slice Pizza, and of course at the Typewriter Museum.
Bands seen most times: Dead Confederate, Tim Easton, each three times and excellent for each one of them.
Best new-to-me bands: Felice Brothers (ridiculously entertaining stage show), Junius (excellent post-metal from Boston)
Best showcase: Habana Bar Backyard, which featured the one-two-three punch of Felice Brothers, Jason Isbell, and Tim Easton.
Most welcome return to Austin: Hamell on Trial (the crowd at Soho Lounge was jacked, you could tell there were a lot of ex-Electric Lounge'ers there) -
