This was the first time I saw Trivium. I'm not a huge trivium fan, their music isn't bad, but the lead singer has always seemed like a big cock to me and like the world owes him a favor. I wasn't super impressed, run of the mill stuff, probably won't see them again.
Coheed and Cambria is also another band I don't/haven't listened to much. They were okay, nothing too impressive. I like a band that gets the crowd going. Now don't get me wrong these guys can jam, but even after seeing them live I'm not itching to go listen to their music. To each their own I suppose.
Now my old school buddies. Slipknot. Like I said, I may be a bit biased. For one I got my tickets out of someone else's misfortune, so I was sitting in the stands. This is the first time I have ever gone to a metal show and sat down. I didn't like it at all, I just kept looking down wishing I was in the mosh pit. Anyway Slipknotcame out and busted out a few old school licks. They came out with Sic, then Eyeless, Wait and bleed, etc. They played a song off of Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat. in honor of their 10 year release and also played the song Get This (it's their secret song on their first road runner release). A lot of people seemed stumped as to what song they were playing but you could tell who the true fans were because they were singing along to songs like this instead of just Psychosocial. They played about an hour and half set. They did an on cor and played Surfacing and Spit it out. Slipknot basically made the show that night. Although I don't like much of their new stuff, I was very glad they played a lot of old stuff and played some of the newer stuff for other people too. Props to Slipknot for making it this long, I remember talks back in the day when they said they weren't going to make anymore albums. May your 9 piece orchestra of madness go down in metal history. You guys still get 2 horns up from me. ;-)
