Peter Walker
we are truly proud to present
a very special performance by a living legend:
PETER WALKER
http://www.tompkinssq.com/walker_echo.html
Peter Walker released two critically revered and influential albums of avant-guitar-folk steeped in the tradition of classical Indian music in the late 1960s, and then disappeared for nearly 40 years. He was rediscovered recently, still very much in love with playing his guitar, by the esteemed Tompkins Square Label, who allowed him to release his first album of original material in four decades.
Having spent quite some time studying flamenco guitar under masters of the art these past few decades, Peter will be playing a set of material drawing from the close relationship between American Folk, Spanish Flamenco, and Indian ragas.
preceding his performance will be a lecture by well-known and widely-respected UCI professor of ethnomusicology, Robert Garfias.
