Tue 11 Nov – Bullet for My Valentine, Lacuna Coil, Bleeding Through, Black Tide

This was a pretty awesome concert and my first at the Pavilions for about a year. After a monster SubWay, we made our way to very close to the front of the queue to get into the venue. When we got let in, we could see that Black Tide's gear was set up and within 10mins of us going in, they came on. Black Tide were good, appart from the fact that the sound was so awful it was hard to distinguish between some of the songs. It was also really quiet for some reason and I could have easily have had a conversation with a friend without speaking too loudly. Their album 'Light From Above' is fantastic but unfortunatley this live performace was poor, although I don't think it was really their fault. I would like to see them again properly.

Then it was Bleeding Through. To be honest, I didn't really think much of these guys. They were a fairly standard metalcore/death metal band without much passion or originality. However, they got the crowd going quite a lot and opened up a lot of circle pits. I do not think that I would buy any of their cds or see them live again though.

After them it was Italian gothic metallers Lacuna Coil. I had listened to two of their albums and had liked what I had heard although I didn't really think they had any memorable tracks. They were great live and had the energy to captivate the crowd. I think that a lot of the people had gone there just to see them. I would definatley see them again and I will be re-listening to their albums.

Then it was the main event, Bullet for my Valentine! As soon as they came on and opened with 'Scream Aim Fire', the whole arena was just jumping up and down wildly and creating circle pits. Their set list had a choice of songs from both albums and even two from the EP. I think that the best song of the night was either 'Hand of Blood' or 'Hearts Burst Into Fire'.

Overall I would give this gig 9/10 for music and 8/10 for content.
