The Middle East is a tiny, tiny club in Cambridge, MA and when I heard Edguy and Kamelot were coming to that venue I had to hit the gig. The night did not disappoint at all, and even contained a few surprises. Hypersolid, who I had never heard before and held no real hope for with their 6 stringed bass and two 7 stringed guitars tore up the house with their vocalist who looks like Hannibal Lector with Till Lindeman's (Rammstein) haircut, while maintaining a vocal style when clean much in the vein of James LaBrie (Dream Theater) and when growling like Randy Blythe (Lamb of God). The demos they threw into the crowd are even better with more clean vocals. Definitely a band that should be bigger [7].
Edguy roars onto the stage as if they were playing to a max capacity crowd in a venue such as the TD Banknorth Garden and they were the headliners. The setlist contained great songs like Mysteria, Superheroes, Tears of a Mandrake…
