Fri 14 Mar – Iron Maiden

The Iron Maiden concert this past Friday March 14th, 2008 was by far one of the most anticipated shows for me this year. We arrived at the venue about 5 minutes to 9 and thankfully we did not have to sit through Lauren Harris' set. Maiden opened up like it was 1985 on their World Slavery tour with the WW2 speech given by then PM Winston Churchill. Having heard this speech several hundred times when listening to the album I got goosebumps. We went straight into Aces High and 2 Minutes To Midnight off their masterpiece Powerslave. After this Bruce and company delved into material from the equally awesome Piece of Mind album (Revelations and The Trooper). They tossed in a few "newer" songs - Fear Of The Dark being the most recent song they played and it's a real crowd pleaser. After that they went back and hit a couple more from Powerslave namely the epic Rime of the Ancient Mariner and the title track. …
