Channelling sun streaked summers past through their pristine guitar pop, New Jersey’s Real Estate make music sound easy. Already announced on Golden Plains festival, Real Estate will play this headline sideshow when making their long-awaited Australian debut in March. Martin Courtney, Alex Bleeker and Matthew Mondanile were long-time friends, barely home from college when they formed a band in 2008. Writing songs for their dreary suburban postcode, rarely does a band make life’s minutiae sound so attractive. Their two albums are imbued with warmth, characterised by their timelessness and distinguished by skilful instrumental restraint. Joined by drummer Jackson Pollis and multi-instrumentalist Jonah Maurer for this tour, the band’s expansive live show is breezy and nostalgic, making disarmingly simple pop sound unexpectedly profound.
