Matthew and the Atlas
Een kruising tussen het beste uit Amerika en Engeland op het gebied van dromerige pop en folk. Matthew Hegarty is een zanger waar je haren in positieve zin van overeind gaan staan.
Zijn stem houdt het midden tussen die van naamgenoot Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons), Jason Molina (Magnolia Electric Co.) en Marcus Mumford (Mumford and Sons). Ook de rest van de band weet perfect de intimiteit van Engelse ‘folk noir’ te combineren met meerstemmige americana. Zangeres Lindsay West doet bijvoorbeeld nauwelijks onder voor Hegarty en als ze samen optrekken in de melancholische songs is het helemaal prachtig.
