Founded in Madrid, Spain, this company of 24 dancers, a vocal soloist, and live musicians Is considered one of the premier dance troupes keeping the tradition of flamenco alive in an explosion of rhythms, colors, and emotions.
The Compañia Flamenca José Porcel performs the purest and the oldest part of flamenco from Andalusia— the music, song, and dance of the gypsy (Roma) art form. It is an intimate and deep-felt song that recounts the sorrows and hopes of the Gypsies as a people.
