JMBennett of Montreal was great. I was at the rail, and the energy down there was ridiculous. I had a blast. Some of the new stuff wasn't as energetic as it could've been, but then again, Enemy Gene was fucking phenomenal, so maybe they just need to play it more. The stuff from Hissing Fauna was all wonderful - it was great to hear Gronlandic and Rejecter and Grotesque Animal, and the encore was just fucking amazing - I have a newfound appreciation for Kongsvinger. Janelle was phenomenal too, of course. Her keyboardist is a fucking badass, and the three hit combo of Cold War, Tightrope, and Come Alive was a fucking intense way to end the show. I had a fucking blast.

daughtercell That shrill violin during whatever song was playing when Kevin and Janelle's dancer were making out in that box really did my ears in for the night. I was going to go get earplugs except I only had $7 in cash and didn't want to waste probably too much of that for just 15-30 minutes left. So I had to plug my ears for the end of Of Montreal's set. They're a bit too weird for me but I did enjoy a fair amount of their songs and plan to check them out more in-depth. Janelle, on the other hand... <3!!! I only wish I had been down on the floor, closer to the stage.

lactaid I enjoyed this show. But I agree there was something off. I was in the seats and I was the only dancing and the only one around me who had listened/knew the new album (which is to be expected since it JUST came out). Kevin had said in an interview that he was going to focus more on the newer album but would add in some older stuff since he realizes most people wouldn't feel False Priest right away. But I loved the theatrics this time around (this is my 4th time seeing them). But yes, yes, yes, JANELLE WAS AMAZING.

doda I could complain and quibble, but this show was much better than last April at the Paradise. The newer material was definitely weaker than what they played at that show, but the performance was much better. I will agree that Janelle was better, mostly because her latest album's significantly better than False Priest.

I would have guessed that was just one of the Janelle-esque dancers. But if that's the case, I wanted to see her adorable face instead!
