pizzathehut Yeah, if you look at the only other North American tour date so far, she played only 11 songs and we got 9. Without the lengthy harp-tuning/Neal Morgan Q&A she probably would have been able to fit in a couple of shorter tunes, such as Jackrabbits and Peach Plum Pear, which she played in the previous show. I mean yeah, i'm not thrilled with the Phoenix either, but sometimes you just have to take a step back and appreciate what you get, and what we got last night was pretty special (for lack of a better word). One of the truly inspiring musicians of our time playing some of her best material. Were you there for that Baby Birch encore? I would have paid full price just for that, honestly.

tokyopoliceclub Based on other show setlists (thought not ones from this particular tour) it looks like the set was cut short three or four songs. Yeah, it sucks, but were you really surprised that the Phoenix did what they do every single Saturday night? At least they allowed for the encore. I agree with Ghostface187 - I don't think they were initially planning on it. If anything, I'd be more offended by the amount of time it took to tune the harp. Sure, it needed to be done, but it didn't exactly help with time constraints.

Ghostface187 Look, I'd prefer not to have a show scheduled right before a club night either, but you're exaggerating like crazy. Even if she did have to end, it wasn't a very short set. It was about 1:30. Her songs are generally long. Second of all, we did get an encore, and I'm quite positive we did due to the crowd's reaction (since the venue played the after-show music after her main set, which isn't ever done until after the encore. That encore consisted of one song called Baby Birch. Complain to the club - I'll support you on that. But don't be a douche and ask for your money back.

baba108 It was awesome to see and hear such a talent -- but we got ripped off in terms of a very short set without even one encore -- not because Joanna didn't want to, but because she was pulled off the stage early by the club owners. Why? The concerts at the Phoenix get kicked off the stage at 9:00 because the sleaze bags want to pack in the club goers later. So Joanna told us that she was told by the club that she had to leave the stage. Even she was surprised. What's with that? There were no indications on the ticket, in the ads or at the venue that the show would be shorted. I'm looking for a refund.
