New Orleans Allen Toussaint has been a songwriter/producer/pianist extraordinaire to everyone from Fats Domino to Dr John to Elvis Costello and all points in between. Post-hurricane Katrina Toussaint’s place in the pantheon of popular music has been consolidated, his creative fires burning on his new album Bright Mississippi. Stirring vocal group The Blind Boys of Alabama, still led by founder Jimmy Carter are enjoying a latter day revival that’s won them Grammy Awards four years in a row.
