Unfortunately, he burst into Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? by Rod Stewart - the lowlight of the gig for me lol, other than that, it was a f*ckin belter of a gig!

I went to the dam to see them a couple of weeks before and have to admit the scottish crowd was a lot more nuts, which I prefer, but I heard 1 guy go lets boo all their new songs, fuck off u weegie cunt if u don't like the new album don't buy a ticket for the HUMBUG tour, and yeah there was a lot of young folk especially wee skanks thinkin they could handle it right at the front, not sayin I could for very long like, but I never fainted and started crying, i'm just not as fit as I used to be can any1 remember the song that he sang in crying lightning its doin my head in

The audience were the second worst crowd I'd experience in as many weeks.

Stopping mid song was a terrible idea. It only served to rile up the "here we fucking go" sections of the crowd.

The attendance was around 9400. Friend of mine's a steward at the s.e.c.c.

505 was a brilliant closer, although i agree that A Certain Romance should have been in there somewhere. I think it would have seemed a bit out of place if they closed with it though.

@ james_cfc: can't help but think 13000 is an exaggeration

The more I think about it, the more I wish they had just played 3/4 nights at the Barrowland.

And I think we can forgive Alex, I thought he handled the whole stopping-mid-song thing pretty well, and considering he was having projectiles launched at him the whole gig, he handled getting hit by a shoe pretty well.

Yeah, it seemed to me that a lot of the kids who were there - by the way, didn't the ticket say over 16's only? - had never been to a gig before. There were girls shouting at guys for knocking into them, screaming when they get hit by beer, getting all angry when your sweaty fucking armpit goes in their face... they didn't seem to realise that that's what happens at gigs. The falling over thing was ridiculous, but that was simply because it was all standing, and there was 13000 people pushing to get closer to the band. They should've had seats, or sold less tickets - simple as that. I felt bad seeing people coming out with footprints on their chests and no shoes on - no one should have to worry about getting trampled to death at a gig.

Actually, I think that was probably loads of people's first gig and they didn't know what to do. I fell loads of times and folk just kept looking at me dumb-founded even though I helped them up only a minute before. + To the guy I punched in the ribs; you deserved it. Don't be a dick, hitting on lassies that are clearly out of your league. Just sayin'. AND! I wish they ended with A Certain Romance instead of 505.

Another comment with regards to the crowd: shortly before Alex said "if someone falls, pick 'em up" a whole bunch of us fell and nobody picked us up... what happened to the friendly atmostphere that gigs used to have? Or is that just my fond memories of metal gigs way back when?

I was too occupied getting high from all the unwanted blowbacks to see everything that was going on around me.

And also, did people preemptively take spare shoes to the gig so that they could throw them at the band, or did they decide mid way through the gig that they wouldn't mind walking home barefoot? I realise they were most likely off their faces, but still, the mind boggles.

There was a lass during EoDM up front whose shoes had come off. Obviously she should've chosen more suitable footwear, but I genuinely felt sorry for her. She was getting trampled on. I reckon I'd have enjoyed the gig a fair bit more if I'd not had to spend so much time and attention on staying upright and dodging projectiles/arms

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one that had issues with the crowd. There were people coughing on me from all angles and I seemed to get stuck in the middle of all the semi-neds smoking weed. I wasn't a smoker going in but I was definitely one coming out. The Monkeys themselves were dead good, much better than I thought they were going to be. No Teddy Picker sucked majorly, though. Lol at all the wee boys and girls tanking bottles of Strongbow before going in. :P
