The music of guitarist/composer Bill Frisell evokes an intensely personal vision of America. Echoes of rural blues, bluegrass, rock’n’roll and jazz collide within a completely original musical world. He revisits an old alliance with a kindred spirit, the gifted composer/arranger Mike Gibbs - an iconic figure in British and international jazz - in a new collaboration that places Frisell’s unmistakeable guitar improvisations within a sweeping orchestral landscape. Music by Copland and Ives set the scene for this BBC commission.
