Gasp, one disappointed person left an opinion in the shoutbox on last.fm, a natural place to leave an opinion. A whole bunch of people had a great time, good for them. It seems obvious though that not everyone really was having a good time, as event staff had to go onstage and tell people to relax. And sure, I'll remember the next time I go to a free event with really hyped artists (those happen all the time) that I'll just ruin it for myself. It's kind of as if I had gone to the library, and a few people started shouting instead of whispering. I suppose it's aloud, but it isn't too nice. Really a small fee to see dozens of artists would have kept some of the most immature people out (i.e. the fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen year olds bankrolled by their parents; I'm not blind, most of the people pushing looked at least a couple years younger than me) and there would have been no problem.

People clamoring to see a hyped band? Oh wow stop the presses. I really don't see how what you described is any different than an average show. Next time maybe trying standing spreadeagle, or glare at hipsters that bump into you, seems to work for me when securing a spot. Really the only person that ruined your time was you, because I can almost guarantee that everyone around you had fun and didn't run off to alert the internets. I leave it at this, the underlying point of this fest is that it's free, and open for everyone, bad & good, if you don't understand that then you have another thing coming.

Relax man, smoke a bowl, PDX Pop Now! is a great idea, but a small number of people in the closing sets ruined it for me, for ME. Not for you, not for everyone else, but for me. You looked at my charts, you know I came for Menomena, which is quite relaxed music, and the people pushing to the front (not something I have ever seen at a Menomena show) ruined it for me. I really did not appreciate waiting with my girlfriend just a few feet back from the stage, only to get pushed out of the way halfway through the AU set (not that I could hear AU play, as so many people were shouting at each other that the band was almost inaudible). Most people were fine, an excellent representation of the diversity of Portland. What I meant b riff-raff was the small number of almost certainly drunk fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen year olds shoving to the front. If it had cost $15/$20 for the entire event per person, I don't think I would have this issue, and you wouldn't be calling me elitist.

samktg, gtfo of portland you herb. Your elitism is both unnecessary and (judging by your charts) unwarranted. I saw a huge event go off without a hitch. I saw cops and security look the other way as kids drank beer, smoked bowls, and generally got hyped. I saw a diverse group of people, (including grips of cute girls in sun-dresses), celebrating maybe the one thing that makes this town stand out against the monotony of everyday life. Your complaints are basically a big "FUCK YOU" to the organizers/volunteers/musicians who spent countless hours on this truly awesome concert.

This shouldn't have been free. The riff-raff ruined it for me.
